From the Manufacturer:

Protection You Can Count On

Protect your lawn from moles, gophers, voles, armadillos and other burrowing animals with Sweeney’s all-natural, poison free repellent. Made with castor oil and other natural ingredients, the repellent is safe to use on lawns and gardens as well as around children and pets.

A convenient, easy-to-use Shaker Bag allows you to treat your lawn without handling the product. After applying, water the product into the ground to activate the granules. This makes the ground smell and taste unpleasant, sending the unwanted pests scurrying to find a more welcoming place to live.

Steer Moles from Yard in Stages

Sweeney’s Mole & Gopher Repellent works by slowly driving moles out of yards and gardens in stages. Avoid treating the entire lawn in one application – this may cause moles to tunnel wildly in any direction to escape the repellent. Applying the granules over the lawn in stages will steadily herd moles away from the treated lawn area.

Progressively Propel Unwanted Rodents

Before applying the repellent, locate the active mole areas to determine which way to move the moles out of your yard.

  • Day 1

Spread the granules over the first area and water-in with a sprinkler for approximately 20 minutes. Watering allows the concentrated granules to penetrate deeply into the lawn.

  • Day 2

Spread the granules over the second area; water-in the same area as day 1, plus the second area to get the mole moving. Each day’s watering allows granules to penetrate more deeply.

  • Day 3

Spread granules over the third area. Water-in the same area as days 1 and 2, plus the third area to keep the mole moving.

  • Day 4

Spread the granules over the fourth area. Water-in the same area as days 1, 2 and 3, plus the fourth area to move the mole out of your yard!

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:

Will Sweeney’s mole and gopher repellents kill my grass?

I was hoping this would be a natural un Cruel way to get rid of Mole problem on new lawn .. But it did nothing at all , i followed the directions perfectly and even used a little more in spots , The bag ran out very quickly and i did not notice any positive change in Mole digging

Back to the drawing board because this is not the answer

I followed the directions and while I still see some raised areas of dirt indicating my mole friend has been around there are far less than there used to be. It may be that it just needs time to dissolve and sink into the soil. Overall I would give it a grade of a B.

Moles and/or Voles were turning my garden into swiss cheese. After putzing around for 2 years, I put this stuff down twice about 7 days between apps, right before some forecasted rain showers...this really works. I have to admit, I put it down about 2x per the instructions, and then followed up with a liquid concentrate from another company, covering the gardens and lawn. I would definitely use this again!

We have a cow pasture next to our yard and the moles apparently decided that our yard was paradise. For 7 years they kept moving more and more of their families in, and nothing I tried would work. I used bombs, traps, water, even chewing gum. Then I found Sweeney's Mole & Gopher Repellent about 3 years ago. I chased them from the yard following the instructions, and now I shake it all around the perimeter of our yard a couple times a year. I think we've seen 2 moles total in the past 3 years. And it's so easy to use.

I've had gophers tunneling under my house/in my yard since I moved in 3 years ago. I surrounded the house (leaving an escape route as per instructions). I have not seen another gopher mound since (2 months ago).

This repellent needs a hard rain to soak into the ground, not just a sprinkler. The first couple applications I put down just seemed to freak the moles out, causing them to run into the good yard. i bought two more bags to make a thick barrier between my good yard and the mole infested areas, but now I have fresh new mole trails deep into the good part of the yard.

The directions should say to wait until it rains. I don't think the sprinkler for 20-30 minutes does the job. I guess I will just have to use grub killer in the spring and hope my grass fills in over winter.

Since it appears that this product is no longer being made, this is kind of a futile review but for what I experinced, it worked and kept moles and gophers away from the lawn. I used a spreader and applied a band around the house. Over the winter months there was a lot of activity but they seemed to stop short of where I had applied the product. Seem to do the job.

This stuff does not work and I don't see how it can. It says that a 4-pound bag can cover a 2,000-square foot yard. Do the math. For a 2,000 square-foot yard, you actually have to sprinkle the 64 ounces over a 5,000 square feet area because the instructions say to do apply the product over a four-day period covering the first quarter of your yard four times, the second quarter three times, the third quarter two times and the fourth quarter once. That comes to 5,000 square feet. What you can sprinkle on the surface of the yard is actually reduced further because the instructions tell you to place the repellent directly in the mole tunnel (instructions make no mention of how much repellent to place in each tunnel or how far apart you should dig holes to place repellent). Best case scenario, you are lucky if you have 4 ounces to spread over 500 square feet. It is very difficult to see how that amount of repellent, diluted by plants, soil, and water, is going to make a significant difference in a mole's behavior.

I did the math before I bought this, but figured I had a distinct advantage as my yard was just 690 square feet (giving me a whopping 12-13 ounces per 500 square feet of application). The directions are exceptionally vague, but I did precisely what they said to do (divide yard into quarters; spread treatment over four days; dig into tunnels, place repellent, refill holes; push in one direction; water after each treatment). I experienced no change in mole activity. There was mole activity in the treated areas after each day's application. For all I know, I was spreading mole food.

Even if the product did work, the packaging and what I could find online, said nothing about reapplication.
