Editorial Reviews

Undercover Agent, starring Russell Gleason and the beautiful Shirley Deane, is a delightful comedic mystery story that's evocative of the lawless west at the tail end of the Depression. Gangsters who operate a betting parlour get antsy when business goes bad. Deciding to start selling counterfeit lottery tickets. While the town's innocents are being hoodwinked, the simple, earnest life of Bill (Gleason) comes to life. Bill wants to be a postal inspector in order to marry Betty (Deane). Though far down the line on the list for promotion, Bill agrees with his boss to go undercover to infiltrate the fraudulent ring of thieves and obtain the promotion. Undercover Agent has the expected fast pace and action of its contemporaries, but what sets it appart is the supporting role of J.M. Kerrigan (Gone with the Wind). Kerrigan plays a hilarious drunk who aspires to be a actor, and steals every scene.
