4.0 out of 5 stars It wasn' that bad of a story...
I was in the mood for something quick- fast, something that didn't take a whole lot of thinking. And I agree that some of it seemed silly and unrealistic (I guess I have come to expect that of earlier books)but overall I did enjoy it. Kind of like it served its purpose for something enjoyable that didn't take a lot of thinking- easy reading. And I do agree that Hunter did...

3.0 out of 5 stars Another Classy Sandra Brown Book
I enjoyed this book and found that it was an easy read. I liked both the main and supporting characters. Not as "exciting" of a read as Charade & Fat Tuesday ... but a heartfelt romance none the less. If your a SB fan you will enjoy this!

And I do agree that Hunter did fall for Kari too quickly. But cupid can knock one off it's feet rather quickly- I've seen that done myself. What's the story? Kari Wynne is a reporter. She is married to a city councilman who at one time was well-respected throughout the city dies in a car accident. DA Hunter McKee has found some serious dirt on Kari's husband, destroying his reputation and causing doubt and anguish for Kari. Now Kari wants to find out what was true and/or false in her marriage along with the mysterious death of her husband. Having to deal closely with Hunter McKee- you know they say there is a fine line between love and hate. Well, line gets crosses from hate to passion and love. Well, I am giving it a rating of 4 stars when it really desired a 31/2 but I just don't feel like it was as bad as other reviewers feel.

2.0 out of 5 stars It didn't hang the moon..., June 24, 2005
This one was just okay for me. I think what I didn't like about it was how mean the DA had to be in the beginning, and the unrealistic and completely unrelated line of questioning he took her through on the stand. Nothing he said had anything to do with the case against the two surviving men who were on trial. It was just ridiculous, and only succeeded in irritating me.

And the other thing was the loss of her baby. Hunter was not broken up enough about that, and it was partially his fault if you ask me. Plus, how do you fall in love with someone you've never even met (as Hunter did with Kari). That stupidness just killed it for me.

The best part of the story is when Kari is suspended and goes to the mountains, and Hunter followers her. The story is all good while they are in the mountains on a mini break, but then, I don't know, it was kind of flat from there. Nice enough read, I guess. I would recommend Eloquent Silence or Two Alone instead.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth the Time to Read!, August 19, 1999

Sandra Brown has the reputation as the author "who can't write her books fast enough". Well I thnk that reputation has come to a complete halt. Some of her books as writen so quckly and carelessly that they lack the romance and character depth as some of her beter novels...All and all save your time for a better more well thought out novel.

1.0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE!, August 23, 1999
By A Customer
This is one of the worst books I've ever read. The first time "the guy" meets "the girl" it's under stressful circumstances, yet he says "I've fallen in love with the enemy." Oh please!!! I could write better than that! I'll never waste my time reading anything bearing her name again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed the book, not impressed with the Kindle Version, July 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sweet Anger (Kindle Edition)
I enjoyed the book, though I am biased and I love anything by Sandra Brown. This was not by any means her best book, but still a good read. However, I was not impressed with the Kindle version of the book. This was my first purchase on my Kindle and I am not sure what to think. The version I received on my kindle was FULL of typos! The main character (Kari) was called about three different names throughout the book. Many common words were misspelled. There was a lot of punctuation (question marks, exclamation points) left in very random places like in the middle of words. It was very distracting to see the many errors while trying to read. I am not sure if this was a problem with the Kindle version or if it was the actual book, but I have never had any problems with the 20+ other Sandra Brown books I have read. I am hoping this is not the type of quality I can expect for all Kindle books I purchase. If you can last through all the annoying errors, it is worth reading.

3.0 out of 5 stars I Just Finished Reading This Book, September 5, 2000
By A Customer
and would rate it in the average category. It is a light and quick read. I've liked some others of hers better such as "A Treasure Worth Seeking". I think that Hunter fell in love with Kari too quickly. It wasn't realistic. However, I did like the secondary couple (Bonnie and Pinkie) and their romance. They were more believable and I think that most of us have met people like them at one time or another in our life. Read the book if you're on a plane, train or bus (or have kids bugging you) otherwise find a book with more meat and depth to it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Basic romance, July 8, 2000
I liked this book. The introduction by the author notes that it is one of her first. It was a basic romance with two people who are against each other professionally but personally very attracted to each other. It is a basic romance but I enjoyed it.

This is one of my favourites in Sandra Brown. I read it 4 days ago and finished it in two days. The love in the hate given in the book very good and I loved the love between Kari and Hunter and also between Bonnie and Pinkie. It was a really good book and I think you must start reading it right now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book! Quick, fun read., April 26, 2011
This review is from: Sweet Anger (Kindle Edition)
This is typical Sandra Brown style. A quick paced, fun read. I enjoyed this book. DOn't know why it has so many negative reviews... maybe some people bought it not knowing exactly what to expect from this author. Nonetheless, this was a fantastic read for her fans. A bit light, but aren't all Brown books like that?
