Editorial Reviews

Review

By Ionia Martin (TOP 500 Reviewer, Amazon Vine Voice)

"This book is set to an adorable rhyming rhythm that will please your child. Warning though parents and grandparents: They become quite addicted to having you read it out loud. You may be asked to do so repeatedly. My advice would be to alternate between adults so no one loses their voice.

What is there not to love about this story? The characters are so cute, the story tells a tale while making the child audience (okay, okay, and the adults) laugh and the illustrations are top notch as you find in all of the Grammy's Gang books. I have no doubt that any child would enjoy this story. Check it out, it would make a great gift, or a great anytime book."

This book is about two boys. One white and one black....best friends!!!!!! It reminds me of myself and my best friend! My kids loved the rhythm and rhyme to the book. I made sure to read the book to them almost in song and they were singing it with me. We really loved this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable June 18, 2013
By Shellsy

Just bought this and read it to my nieces. It's so flippin cute. The girls were shaking their bodies and saying the words with me by the third time I read "Sweet, sweet, sweet barefeet! We're feelin' the beat in our sweet barefeet!" The pictures are amazing!!! Well worth the price because you'll be reading it again and again.

4.0 out of 5 stars JUST WATCH WHERE YOU WALK!! July 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Loved it!! Unfortunately my own children couldn't go barefooting outside because of the occasional snake in our country subdivision.
They did shed their shoes as soon as they hit the door, just like I've always done.
Beautiful pictures! Great rhymes !
And I love that Mom is cooking. My children weren't reared on fast food. That's why they eat all kinds of veggies now.
The only thing I don't like is the boy ignoring his mom when she calls him to help with the chores. That would earn some pretty serious punishment in my house, including no friend at dinner, no dessert, staying inside instead of playing outside, no TV, no video games, no music of any kind...
You don't run away when Mom calls, or when Dad calls. And you always do your chores before playing.
One of my children had ADD. I created a stack of file cards with all of his different chores on them and punched one hole in the left corner. Each day I would sort through and pull out the chores he needed to do that day and put them on a ring.
If there was no school that day, I handed them to him after breakfast; if there was school, I gave them to him after school.
The system worked for him. I can't take credit for it. It was in one of the many books I read about ADD. But if he had run away like the boy in the book, he would have been in just as much trouble as his siblings and he knew it.
This book can be rewritten with (hopefully) very little trouble. My children were very small when I would dump a load of laundry on my bed and shout," Calling all Care Bears!"
They would run to my room, pick out their clothes, and put the clothes in the right drawers.
We're the clothes folded neatly? Of course not!

5.0 out of 5 stars A neat neat sweet book June 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Little children will love the pictures and rhythm of this original new children's story-poem about two friends playing in the summer, their feet bare and their friendship solid. Even mud can't stop them. Highly recommended for young children, and parents who love to read to them.
