Dan Croll is a fabulous new solo artist with enough facets for a whole band. He's the electro boy with links to the folk scene (Communion Records discovered him and included one of his tracks on their recent New Faces compilation), a multi-instrumentalist whose songwriting prowess has impressed everyone from former Beatles to legends in the world of fashion and design. He started 2012 with ... Read more in Amazon's Dan Croll Store

Helloooo era of good music. Welcome back! Dan Croll is reviving good lyrics, strong pipes and high quality music without all the fluff. More than an indie musician...this guy is a STAR!

Nice mixture of upbeat and laid back tunes. Reminds me of Local Natives, Passion Pit, Mike Snow. Lovely voice, would recommend!

I first heard him when listening to my Sirius radio, went to YouTube, turned my sister on to him, and we've both been waiting all year for this CD to come out, it does NOT disappoint, fabulous.
The more we listen to it the more we love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect April 14, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I've been a fan of Dan's for well over a year now and can honestly say that he's in my top 5 favorite artists of all time. I've met him and his band a handful of times and they're all always so genuine and just lovely people all around. His music can always put me in a good mood. Compared to some of the other stuff that's out there today, I highly recommend Sweet Disarray. Dan deserves every ounce of success heading his way.

4.0 out of 5 stars More than "From Nowhere"... April 3, 2014
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
The almost-cliched album title conjures images of scattered but beautifully varied tunes woven to some wide-spanning collection. In reality, "Sweet Disarray" plays it safer and doesn't run far from home base though- just about every song feels modern with slick production and sometimes, a recent band's impact- sounds of Fleet Foxes haunt the title track and it's up the air whether Croll beckons afro-pop or the obvious New York indie band behind the catchy "In/Out". Even if the album doesn't quite keep the title's expansive promise, there's still plenty to geek out about.

The digestible "From Nowhere" sets the tone for most of the album's first half- easy to listen, easy to forget. "In/Out" stands out among the pool that includes the Passion Pit-y "Wanna Know" and lukewarm "Compliment Your Soul"- songs that are decidedly modern, decidedly "indie" and decidedly plain. Croll croons sweetly but not distinctly so it's up to his songwriting, penmanship, and sound to counter that.

"Only Ghost" does just that with the albums first memorable line- the childishly honest "I love the wind, I love the rain, and I love the coast" before "Sweet Disarray" strips away the sheen to reveal a somber and vulnerable Croll (a feeling revisited on "Home".) Croll gives in again to his more exotic influences on "Maway" and "Always Like This"- a Croll backed with slick guitars, busy rhythms, and tribal harmonized choruses- a Croll I can get behind.

"Home" closes the album with folk and the best, most expressive lyrics of "Sweet Disarray".
