2.0 out of 5 stars a disappointment
The songs on this CD are crammed one after the other, with little or no pause in between, which causes a jarring effect when listening to it.

This CD, with no large dynamic changes and more than 70 minutes of soothing music, has been on our boom box in our son's room every night since we brought him home. He's almost 18 months old. We buy this for all our friends who have babies and personally think that it should be given to parents as they leave the hospital. Highly, highly recommended, beats every other lullaby CD we've got. And trust me, after 18 months, we got plenty.

5.0 out of 5 stars A slow jam tape of classical music, May 30, 2002

This is a great collection of slow stuff for classical heads and people who simply have a light appreciation for the form. The songs consist of some standards and some less-than-obvious choices, but all great stuff. While it's being marketed as a children's lullaby compilation, it's great for anyone looking for some background music for a cnaldelight dinner or road trip.

Solid execution and selection. The only ballad-filled classical CD you HAVE to get.

5.0 out of 5 stars For more than just sweet dreams, January 25, 2007

Our babies are grown, but we still listen to this CD. It provides a romantic background. In fact, I just bought it for a 60 year old woman who is getting remarried. Everyone needs a bit of romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars For calming babies, pets, and adults--TERRIFIC, January 19, 2006

I purchased this CD about 10 years ago. Since then, I have made five other purchases. My first copy got swiped, borrowed for life, never to be returned. The soothing classical tunes calmed a 3 month old who was fighting sleep with strong healthy lungs. The second copy I purchased for myself. The third a gift to the next baby in the family. It has been my pleasure to keep looking, needing and finding this music CD. I've tried others but did not have the same tranquil effect. There is one song with a woman singing in a coo. My neice of 6 months tries to do the same--and she, too, is another fan.
I don't find the smooth transissions between pieces to be disturbing in the least. I highly recommend this to those needing
a tuneful means to relax, to those suffering cut-sleep with infants, or those with high strung animals who freak when thunder
or windy weather rocks the house!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best, July 11, 2008
This review is from: Sweet Dreams (Audio CD)
This is one of the best "lullaby" CDs I have found. This is great for drifting off to sleep with for you or a child. It is very calming and is quickly becoming my favorite. It works great for my child. It seems to me the transitions between the pieces are well done. It gives a seamless effect and I almost don't notice when a new song starts. This is one of the reasons I think it is so good. There is no stop and start or big pause between songs. One ends, the next starts, and the calm mood is never broken. As other reviewers have said, this can be used for helping children to sleep but it is great background music for anything else from working at the computer to dinner parties.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bedtime music for children., December 17, 2010

I was given this CD when I had my first child. The second child still listens to it when he goes to bed. A friend and co-worker of mine is expecting and this is the gift I purchased for her and her baby. It is a wonderful CD with beautiful soothing music. I would recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very glad to have received this as a baby gift, December 15, 2008
This review is from: Sweet Dreams (Audio CD)
I just rediscovered this beautiful CD while looking through our collection, trying to find the Christmas music. It was given to me by my mother when my first son was born in 1990 and it was a mainstay in our home for the next few years. It was incredibly soothing as nursing music, as well as perfect for nap time (and not just for the kids.) As other reviewers have done, I have given away several copies to new parents because we enjoyed it so much ourselves and wanted to share it.

Listening to it again this evening brought back wonderful memories of those precious days which fly by too swiftly. My now 15-year-old son listened to the songs with me and was amazed that he remembered them, too! He even said that he wanted to be sure to have the CD when he has kids of his own. I intend to buy a couple and stash them away!
