The Ever-Unfolding Drama Of Love & Heartbreak Continues, May 4, 2009
This review is from: Sweet Emotions (Paperback)
Having overcome the initial challenges to their burgeoning union, Scott and Jenna's relationship is stronger than ever. In addition, their individual music careers are soaring, further adding to the blissful stage that they've reached in their lives. Both talented rockers appear to be at the absolute peak of their creative powers, and the intermingling of their personal and professional lives has bolstered their ongoing efforts to succeed in the ever-evolving entertainment industry.
However, as anyone who has lived long enough knows, for every up, there's a down, and life is just a perpetual journey through alternating peaks and valleys. For the highs that Jenna and Scott have achieved, there soon emerge the inevitable lows that they must trudge their way through. The ultimate test for them - both individually and together - lies in just how long their trademark tenacity can bolster them as they remain committed to each other in the face of all the internal and external temptations threatening to pull them apart.
The second installment in the Song Trilogy, in Sweet Emotions author Jan Bornstein doesn't miss a beat in picking up right where she left off. Wiser and more seasoned as a result of their previous experiences, Jenna and Scott are better prepared to handle the various personal and professional adversities that come their way; however, just as they've enhanced their individual and collective strength, the challenges that they face are even stronger and more sophisticated, forcing the couple to depend on each other all the more for the support, understanding, and guidance that they need.
Further adding to the appeal of Bornstein's tale is her meticulous crafting of Jenna, Scott, and all the other characters of the narrative. By framing them as holistic, three-dimensional beings - and not shallow caricatures - she allows the reader the opportunity to experience the full range of the lover's emotions as if they were their own - and they oftentimes are.
Fans of the romance genre are guaranteed to enjoy Sweet Emotions, but the book will be no less appealing to readers who appreciate realistic stories of the various trials and tribulations that we all face in life.
