Hey, this isn't a book about farts! This is a book about family and friends and stick-with-it-ness. Farts are just the medium used to pull it all together. This is a quick-paced, well-written book that should keep its target audience's attention all the way through. It is enjoyable, comical and doesn't waste space with unneeded words that would slow the action down. I liked it. I would give it to my kids (and, in fact, I did). An enjoyable, quick read.

I read the first one and loved it. With it's greatness I had to get this one. When I started reading this one I was "Blown Away." (Get it?) With it's great story it will keep you guessing. There is humor, drama, and farts in this book. It is, in my opinion, the best book in the series an my 2nd favorite book of all time.

I read this book to my 8 year old son, whom loves this type of humor. I do liken the themes of this book to be similar to Diary of a Wimply Kid. This is the second book in this series thus far. While I found this book to be not of the type of literature that I ever envisioned my son to read or like, I have to be honest and let him read what makes him love reading. The humor is both appropirate and funny. Him and I got a great laugh together. I live with three boys (my husband included) so the subject manner (not the main focus of the book...more of a focus in book one) is something my boys are always joking around about. This easy to read, appropirate subject manner is a great summer read for boys (especially) as long as you want your reader to laugh silly!! I do recommend it.

It can be so hard to encourage children of any age to read... The Sweet Farts books are brilliant in that elementary school kids WANT to read this book. Reading the book, you learn it's so much more than just the silly title... It's filled with values and morals we want to teach our children. I think Raymond Bean is brilliant in his writing and I hope the Sweet Fart Series continues to grow... Keep up the good work, Raymond!

We loved the first one and the second one did not disappoint us. We liked the characters and continued to chuckle through each chapter.

Sweet Farts by Raymond Bean is wonderfully funny and, at the same time, has some important lessons for children. Young readers will see how Keith reacts to fame, fortune, and his two nicknames as the story moves along. At first he is called "Silent But Deadly," however this soon evolves into the name "Farts." This kid and his friends are very smart as they prepare to participate in the forthcoming science fair. Keith has a real problem as he has to come up with an entry that is better than the one in which he changed the world by making it possible to pass sweet farts. Not only that, but he will tell the world about his newest idea on national television. He tries and tries to come up with an exciting project, only to find the idea for it is right before him all the time. The characters are lively, and the material, though very unusual, is age-appropriate. The entire family will laugh over the idea of sweet farts. Join in the fun.

Got this for my 11 year old daughter and she loved it. She thought it was well written and very funny. She has a somewhat "gassy" brother so it was very appropos!

Okay...so I am NOT a 10 year old reading this book but I have an 11 year old that I really don't want to read this book. The premise is funny (to a kid): boy creates a pill you can take to make your farts smell good. Okay....I can see the giggles this would stir up in a classroom and agree that it is funny (to an extent). Problem is, in the book, the main characters "friends" and family think it's okay to make fun of him by calling him names (like FARTS). If this was okay with the kid, I would have no problem BUT the author makes it apparent that he hates it. Ever the teachers at school and the principal call him nicknames he doesn't like and put a lot of pressure on him. I know these things happen in life but the author makes it seem like this is socially acceptable (which it isn't).If you have a child who has ever been picked on or name called or has had a lot of pressure put on them by teachers...this may not be the best book for them. It makes it seem like you should just "get over it" instead of saying that the people who do those things are in the wrong. Just my take.

If you have a 10 year old boy in your home, I guarantee he will LOVE this book about a candy that can change the smell of farts. Throw in a kid becoming a successful businessman and you may just have the perfect book for him. There are problems for our young money maker, of course. How do you come up with a better product than Sweet Farts? And, is the creator responsible for how the product is used? I would absolutely buy this book and include some Sweet Tarts with a computer generated label for Sweet Farts and stand back. With my 10 yr old grandson armed, WAY back. |
