Editorial Reviews

Review

"Just received a copy of [Sarah Palin's] new book—a great read! Sarah is a terrific person."
DONALD J. TRUMP, 2016 presidential candidate

“I found your book to be—and you don’t have to be Christian!—I found it to be very inspiring. I like the way you tie the Bible into events going on today….It’s almost a Norman Rockwell type thing….This is the kind of book I can see, you sit down for Thanksgiving lunch or Thanksgiving dinner, and you actually read from it….This is a marvelous book. Sweet Freedom: A Devotional. I want to encourage people to get out there to get a copy of this. It's a positive, refreshing book. It also provides you some very important connections from the Bible to current events.”
MARK LEVIN, host of The Mark Levin Show

"Sweet Freedom is a wonderful way to decompress from a crazy day. When you think the Bible doesn't contain words of wisdom about a particular problem in your life, you'll find out when you read this book, oh yes it does!"
LAURA INGRAHAM, host of The Laura Ingraham Show

"It's a beautiful, beautiful book, I hope everyone gets their hands on it."
MIKE GALLAGHER, host of The Mike Gallagher Show

"This book is a series of meditations based upon current events. It's very timely for right now."
SAM SORBO, host of The Sam Sorbo Radio Show

"This book is all about looking at the word of God as a guiding light...I hadn't seen this side of Sarah Palin before....a terrific book!"
TOM SULLIVAN, host of The Tom Sullivan Radio Show on Fox News Radio

"You tackle many of today's hard core issues and try to make sense of it all through the Holy Word...the book is also so personal too, you talk about your baptisms and your family. It's heartfelt...this is the perfect time, right before a new year, you're helping everyone get refreshed, refocused and uplifted for a new year. This is an incredible book!"
KEVIN SCHOLLA, host of Mama Grizzly Radio

From the Inside Flap

A Year of Sweet Freedom Awaits

When a raging sea threatened to capsize their boat, the disciples of Jesus were filled with fear. In their panic they turned to Jesus, awakening Him from His peaceful sleep. With a word, Jesus calmed both their fears and the storm. What storm is threatening to capsize your world? What fear is keeping you from experiencing freedom to the fullest?

Join New York Times bestselling author Sarah Palin as she explores the bedrock of the Bible for answers to the pressing issues of our times. In Sweet Freedom, former governor Palin offers comfort, hope, and inspiration with these 260 Scripture- based meditations for a Monday through Friday reading plan. Here you’ll join the personal Sarah Palin, the patriot Sarah Palin, and the concerned wife and mother Sarah Palin as she explores God’s unconditional love and boundless grace.

Drawing on the Old and New Testaments, addressing everything from divine forgiveness to human self-defense, this is a devotional like no other. Revealing, occasionally feisty—as you’d expect from a “mama grizzly”—but always reflective and rooted in a deep faith, Sarah Palin’s book provides a roadmap for experiencing sweet freedom throughout the year.

BONUS: Also included are Sarah Palin’s additional reflections for the holidays—Advent, Christmas Eve, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Presidents’ Day,
Independence Day, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day.

So the other day I was going to bail my oldest son, Trek, out of the county lockup (Vandalism. Kids, right?). I had my eldest daughter in the car with me and she looks over and yells, "Mama, my water broke!" I started to yell back that I wouldn't have to haul her to the hospital if she'd roped that guy into marrying her before he found out the kid wasn't his like I told her to. But then I took a deep breath and remembered what I'd read in Sarah Palin's book "Sweet Freedom" about being patient on those days when your facade as a Christian family just goes right down the crapper.
Sometimes it can be hard to live vibrantly.
So instead of cussing out my daughter, I drove her to the hospital. There, as I waited for the birth of my second - or is it my third? - illegitimate grandchild, I went on Facebook and shared a few anti-Obama memes before flipping over to Sarah Palin's page to thank her for this book, and for being somebody I could relate to. I even dipped into my Marlboro money to send her a few bucks since I got three emails from her this week begging me to donate so she can save America.
I hope she continues to write books. They are perfect. Maybe it's because I never got past the seventh grade and read slow. Or maybe it's because she makes me proud to be a bigot. Either way, when I'm reading her books it feels like she understands, and I think it's because she's just like me. Sarah knows thinking is hard, and her books requires no thinking at all. For a conservative reader, that's Sweet Freedom.

This autobiographical compendium of mostly one-page reflections on daily living according to scriptural guidelines illustrates Sarah Palin’s beliefs that our original Constitution is the one sane way for government to operate for the good of its constituency. As you read though her daily devotionals which begin with a scripture, you are reminded that God gives instruction on how to live thru our tumultuous times. And you get an intimate look at the Palin household and what holds it together. Sarah does not mask her opinions on any current issues, such as gun control. In one selection she says, “I encourage people to carry a gun…because a cop is too heavy.”

One of the super features of each entry is the concluding section, “Sweet Freedom in Action,” in which the reader is helped to take action relative to what was presented in the daily lesson. The lesson for Day 217 is “Lay Your Burdens Down.” The Action: “Today, when you pray, put yourself in God’s arms, curl up, and let go.”

_Hope Irvin Marston, author of AGAINST THE TIDE: THE VALOR OF MARGARET WILSON.

It took me all month to read one page and my grandkids helped me out. This must be a super smart book as one of her loyal fans it is taking me real hard to read it. She is a real conservative family value girl.My kids are named Mattie, Mindy, and Missy. We all enjoy hunting, getting drunk at parties, and fist fighting at cook outs. Just like our Sarah. I have my money from beer cans and once I can get a tire on the old pick up I will get down to redeem those here cans and send her a donation so she can lead Americun like we should be led.

I don't really know what I expected but I expected more. I like Sarah Palin for the record but I don't see any great benefit in this book of devotions. I think a devotional to help those especially in the political world is a great idea but this one is obviously a slanted document.
