Following the manufacturer's instructions for washing will not stop red border from fading as its color leaks onto the white background. You may be tempted to hit the double discount of the post Valentine's day reduction AND Amazon's 4 for 3 promo but you will never be able to tolerate the look of these placemats. I bought them because they reminded me of 1980's products but the faded denim red and the varying levels of pink/white will ruin your appetite. It looks about as nice as old underwear. Do you want that on a table beneath your food?
