Editorial Reviews

Review

"Hell Fire Pepper Jelly is my new condiment of choice for all the right reasons: it's delicious, it is from organically grown ingredients, and most importantly, it dances right on the edge of spicy and sweet in a delicious tango of provocation and pleasure. I particularly love it with some semi-soft pecorino smeared on warm crusty bread but I also love it on every single sandwich as well as with grilled fish or even a simple steak. One warning: it is highly addictive." Chef Mario Batali

Quoted in People magazine, 5/21/12:
"Hell Fire Pepper Jelly gives depth to dishes with its sweet-and-spicy blend." Daphne Oz, co-host of THE CHEW television show.

I'm always at a loss as to what to get single male twenty-something's as a gift. Not anymore. This little gem of a cookbook has simple recipes that taste good, don't require a lot of pots and pans.....and are original enough to impress a date. Jewelry is nice, but a home cooked meal is so much better. I especially like this cookbook because the recipes seem darn near impossible to screw up, and almost all the ingredients can be purchased at a supermarket.

So if you've got a grandson, nephew, cousin, neighbor kid.....this cookbook is great for that first apartment, first dinner party or first serious date. (Grins) Oh.....to be twenty-something again!

I am so happy with this book and this purchase. Sweet Heat is the perfect bite sized holiday manual or gift idea. The photographs are beautiful and worth looking at every page. It reminds me a lot of the Barefoot Contessa books, but much more affordable. The recipes are easy to follow and won't give you disappointing results. You should stock up on this book at this steal of a price and keep some extras to bring to parties as hostess gifts or visitors. Love it and love the jelly.

Hell Fire Pepper Jelly - what an amazing find! We discovered this precious, heated, jelly when we visited New York last Christmas! Then we found the cook book - amazing! Recipes from so many wonderful people and it's only when you read the book that you realise what a versatile ingredient the jelly can be! Both the book and the jelly are such a kitchen staple - especially if you enjoy a bit of zing and something special!!!!!!!!

If you have ever tried Jenkins Jellies Hell Fire Pepper Jelly, than you know it's the superfood of the universe. Nowhere in the grand vastness of the cosmos have ingredients combined to form a more perfect food. Every bite is a delightful surprise, a contradition that should not exist but does, a true Schrodinger's cat conundrum. Sweet or hot, sweet or hot, sweet or hot- Who's in charge here?! At some point the question becomes moot as pleasure pours over your every perception. Hyperbolic? No. FACT. And this book, with a delightful forward by Gwyneth Paltrow, offers many insightful avenues of exploration on the road to sweetheat Nirvana. -Charlie Moser, using his wife's Amazon account, to her chagrin.

We were given Hell Fire Pepper Jelly as a gift last year and we already use it religiously on white cheddar cheese quesadillas, in egg salad, as a bbq glaze and on cheese plates (my mouth waters just writing this!). The stuff is sublime - it's flavors are complex and kinda addictive. But how clever to use the Hellfire as an INGREDIENT in so many well-crafted, easy recipes and sauces we found in this cookbook! There are also great general cooking tips. Our favorites in this book (so far) are Twice Baked Stuffed Potatoes, Noodles from Hell, Raging Roasted Chicken with Vegetables. A beautifully written and photographed book that offers very useful and surprising ideas to add bold heat to so many familiar dishes-- it does not disappoint!
