4.0 out of 5 stars Goth-Metal done right, July 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Sweet Home Transylvania (Audio CD)
I've been a thrash metal fan for years, but only recently gotten into Overkill. I'm glad I did because they're an amazing band. This is bandleader and bassist D.D. Verni's side project. He and Overkill drummer Tim Mallare do Gothic-Metal that is creative (the idea of the chimes in the chorus of "Jesus Doesn't Live Here Anymore" is genius!), unpretentious, and full of fresh ideas that this genre has lacked for so very long. It seems like these thrashers looked at how much Gothic music had begun to [deteriorate] and showed those bands how to do it right. This is what Type O Negative could have been had they not lost track after October Rust.
