5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Jesus, I Hate Bill O'Reilly
If you like political humor along the lines of Bill Mahr and Al Franken, then this book will be right at home in your library. In fact, my card-carrying Republican father would say, "If you hate your country, want to pay lots of taxes, believe George W. may be a reptile, think martians are planning an invasion soon, have commie tendencies, and lean to the left of the...

3.0 out of 5 stars "SJ, IHBO'R" is what it says it is
Okay, I loved it -- but it was a guilty kind of love. O'Reilly draws the wrath of folks like me for his raving and ranting (and, as the book amply demonstrates, his creation of "facts" on the fly), but the book is one long rave and rant (albeit well documented -- no facts on the fly).

I suppose for those who like to see O'Reilly get what he dishes out, the...

In fact, my card-carrying Republican father would say, "If you hate your country, want to pay lots of taxes, believe George W. may be a reptile, think martians are planning an invasion soon, have commie tendencies, and lean to the left of the American Way ... then read this book." Sigh. It's really funny. Just hide it from the Republicans in your family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Note to women...book is too funny...wear diapers to avoid embarrassment, April 29, 2006
By
Be warned...do not read this book while on a plane. I couldn't stop from laughing, and the woman sitting next to me kept on thinking my restrained laughter was an opportunity to start a conversation..."what are you reading?" "blah, blah, blah".

Anyway, once I started reading, I couldn't stop. When I was finally done, I realized how hungry I was being that I forgot to eat for most of the day. So, the book is not only great in terms of "bookiness", but also an excellent weight loss tool.

After writing this review, I am buying a copy for one my mentally impaired co-workers who thinks O'Rielly "kicks ass". I hate that guy (so does everyone else).

This book is full of belly laughs and maybe even some teary-eyed laughter. I do say it the funniest book that I have ever had the pleasure of reading and will revert back to it more than a couple of times, I am sure. Aside from the humor, it is full of facts and logical arguments. The book itself is a formidable weapon anytime anyone has anything remotely positive to say about Bill.

By the way, shouldn't you have to read the book before reviewing it? Note to the morons who give it one star and mention something about liberals, the book is going to sell no matter what you do. Your not changing anyone's mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars The truth is funny.....and scary, April 27, 2006
This book is so very amusing and clever. So much so, that I believe that anyone who does not see it as funny, is either an O'Reilly fan, or a poor soul with no sense of humor. Amusement aside, the authors also reveal the serious wrongness of a man that a number of people look to for the truth. And THAT makes it not only a good read, but an important read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh-out-loud humor for the liberal left, May 1, 2006

I doubt any O'Reilly fans will bother to pick up this book, but you really should. It's not just political humor, it's real humor -- regardless of your political stripe, it's laugh-out-loud funny stuff, period. Of course, if you have been following the ludicrous exploits of Falafel Man, it makes it even more hilarious.

5.0 out of 5 stars A much needed intervention, May 6, 2006
For both O'Reilly and his fans. The authors start their book by expressing concern for Bill's fragile mental state. (Concern that seems well-placed, considering his recent blowup at a caller who mentioned the name of Keith Olbermann.) Because of this, they explain, tongues planted firmly in cheeks, they feel that a "harsh" intervention is needed. They then proceed on a wild romp through the strange and surreal world that is the mind of Bill O'Reilly, providing copious quotes and analysis of his many smears and inaccuracies, spiced with biting humor. Tom Breuer probably deserves extra kudos as well as hazardous duty pay for slogging through all five of O'Reilly's books.

I almost gave this book four stars because I didn't feel that the authors were really able to pull off their foray into more generalized satire (in the form of a look at how O'Reilly might have dealt with Hurricane Katrina had he been President and various other spinoffs). However, the rest of it definitely outweighs the relative weakness of those couple of chapters at the end, so I decided that a 5 still applied.

Bill gets his due. the goddamn funniest book out there. so true, and so tragic. This book is well researched, and worth twice the price. I now believe O'Reilly is scarier than Hannity.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buffoon's Bubble Bursts, June 16, 2006
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As much as I dislike making fun of someone else especially when someone profits from it, it was hard to withhold the laughter at some of the antics and the sheer knuckle-headedness that define this self-righteous, pompous, misinformed and uninformed man who wears too much make-up on the set. Finally, I gave up and just roared.

Bill O'Reilly is a public figure. That makes him grist for anyone's mill just as a slew of right wing authors, Stossel, Coulter, Limbaugh, Savage, Ingraham and others do.

Bill tries to come off (in my eyes) as a serious, intellectual, righteous reporter. I believe he is serious, not even close to being intellectual, nor righteous.

It's hard to see him as an intellectual when he remarks, "Global warming? It's 7 degrees outside. That doesn't sound like global warming to me." Those kind of common remarks are baseless and outright stupid.

Righteous? When you're caught on an answering machine tape sexually harassing someone, it's kind of like the preacher who claims that he hates sin but is later caught in a motel with a hooker.

O'Reilly's temper tantrums indicate a severe lack of emotional maturity. His denials of things that were clearly caught by the camera and microphone show a denial that is almost frightening.

When it comes to serious news Bill doesn't have a clue. All he wants is his audience to become mad at it, and tell them who's to blame for it. Anger and hostility are some of the easiest emotions to arouse.

Bill O'Reilly tries to come off as a serious, genuine, no-nonsense, intellectual who exposes the lies of his opposition. But he is a buffoon, and just comes off as one. He does it to himself because he can't help himself. The authors make it appear that Bill was born to step on his journalistic rake. (Doink!) He was born to slip on his intellectual ice, (Ouch!) to take a fast ball to the groin of embellishment, (Groan!) or to take a gallon-size bowl of denial soup on his lap (I never said that!) from a schlemiel. He is showered by the luffa gloves of scandal. (Brrrrr! That water's cold.) And lastly, Bill O'Reilly is the Charlie Chaplain of serious news inquiry.

O'Reilly was a book like this waiting to happen. The authors just came along and filled in the rest.

Have some soup! Have a cigar! Come back, Bill! I was going to make espresso!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love the book! Too bad the last reviewer didn't!, May 2, 2006
That last reviewer who trashes 'Sweet Jesus' KNOWS he didn't buy or read the book probably because he didn't wanna hear the real truth of what The Falafel King is REALLY all about....AND THE TRUTH REALLY HURTS!!

Ever since his show debut in 1996 on Fox News, O'Reilly had shredded all of whatever left of him of his dignity by selling himself to the devil in sake of ratings, money, power and glory. This book (brilliantly well written by Amann), exposed the real and sad world of Bill O'Reilly's stupid, incompetent quotes that he said that makes any human being shaking his/her head; To his public feuds from Ludacris to Keith Olbermann; And the now-infamous sexual harassment suit brought by his former associate producer Andrea Mackris that would had brought him down, hadn't he paid her off almost $10 million to keep her quiet.

Like the book said, this had nothing to do which political spector you're on, it's all about O'Loofah obessessed with Power and greed mixed with stupidity and incompetence.

Those things will destroy any human being. O'Loofah is no exception.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant, May 2, 2006
This is an absolutely brilliant collection vignettes that clearly and constantly encapsulate the absolute psychosis of both Bill O'Reilly and the Christian Right. Bill's utter hatred of America and all that it stands for is readily apparent. `Ol Bill's delusions, paranoia, cruelty, and overall incompetence are comprehensively exposed for all the world to see. Sweet Jesus I Hate Bill O'Reilly is a "must-read" for anyone whom cares about TRUTH, America, and the WRONG path that they are on. The best part: the authors boil down all of "The Big Giant Head's" lies and evil deeds to such a rudimentary level, even Republican's will be able to understand it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read at own risk!!!, April 29, 2006
It was with much anticipation I opened my little parcel, newly delivered, containing my copy of Sweet Jesus I hate Bill Oreilly.

No sooner had I got it out of the package and flicked to the first page, than several black clad, balding and slightly pudgey white men burst into my house, demanding I "immediately stop what I was doing" and screaming " they knew what I was up to"...then they blindfolded me with an American flag. I was terrified.

They took the book out of my hands, declared that they were from Fox security and with that, they disappeared into the night.

I'm sure the book is great, but since it was stolen, I'll unfortunately have to buy another copy before I can give a full review.
