Editorial Reviews

In Sweet Kill (aka The Arousers), former 1950s teen idol Tab Hunter (Battle Cry, The Sea Chase) gives a superbly chilling performance as Eddie Collins, a lonely and frustrated high school gym teacher who finds that he is unable to perform sexually with women because of repressed memories of his mother. After accidentally killing a woman while trying to sleep with her, he finds that he is able to get aroused by the dead body. This leads to a series of murders to fuel Collins' sexual gratification. The film is written and directed by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle). Also starring Angus Scrimm (Phantasm).

Roger Corman released this independent film through New World Pictures under this title and "The Arousers". Both titles are good as they reflect the story of a psycho (a pre-John Waters Tab Hunter) whose repressed memories of his mother cause him to kill the women he tries to and fails to make love to. Hunter is superb in an atypical role for the time.

Yes, Tab Hunter as a psychopath in a B-movie. Poor guy must have been desperate.

Too irresistible to not see, but I got exactly what I expected. His acting was adequate enough, but the movie was not. It drug out and was very slow paced. Very dark video made it hard to make out what was happening at times. Very little dialogue and lacked substance; didn't delve enough into what exactly went on between him and his mother and why certain things happened. But, hey, that's why it's a B-movie.

It's interesting that the film is inaccurately marketed as a sexploitation flick instead of capitalizing on Tab Hunter's star power, which is quite downplayed. Had he really been forgotten that soon?

Definitely a different concept. 50-60's heartthrob Tab Hunter stars as a person who can only get aroused when the women is dead so he goes on a killing spree with the women he meets. This movie was also called the Arousers.Ample amount of nudity[of course]. Also stars Roberta Collins who was featured in other Roger Coreman movies.
