Romantic comedy from the author of The Generous Gardener - Lizzie is cooking up a storm of comfort food for quick-tempered husband Tom. From Booklist

Sadly, it's a great relief when Lizzie's increasingly violent husband is found dead on the outskirts of Middlemoss. Perhaps now her life can settle down a bit, and she can while away her days in the English countryside, tending to her garden, writing her books of kitchen wisdom, and testing new recipes. But there is no serenity to be found as her late husband's mistresses crawl out of the woodwork, she pulls together the annual mystery play, and she finds herself in a love triangle with tasty actor Rob, a longtime friend, and equally delicious Nick. There is something about the bucolic madness of the English village that never ceases to amuse, and Ashley uses the gentility of days gone by as a well-polished veneer concealing secrets and scandals so juicy Hollywood would blush. All of which is well distilled here with a dash of mystery and a subtle and well-played romance. If you like your love cozies with a little kick, Sweet Nothings is a real treat. Nina Davis

More About the Author

UK Trisha Ashley is the author of ten contemporary romantic comedies, with her latest one, Chocolate Wishes, being the hundredth book to be published by the Avon UK imprint of HarperCollins. A Winter's Tale was shortlisted for the Melissa Nathan award for Romantic Comedy in 2009. She is from St Helens, and believes her typically dark Lancashire sense of humour, crossed with a good dose of Celtic creativity from her Welsh grandmother, have made her what she is today...whatever that is. Four of her novels are set in rural West Lancashire and three in Wales. They frequently explore aspects of the three F's that are a constant in her own life: Food, Flowers and Friends.
She has a website at www.trishaashley.com where you can find out more, sign the guestbook, or join the newsletter group.

Trisha Ashley is my favorite author. Her focus on women in and around 40 relates to me better than the twenty somethings. Her couples are equals. And,for me, the sense of humor is perfect.

This is one of the "short" ones... i'm across the pond, so even though my life is nothing like this... on some level, it's a lot like this! and where it isn't, i wish it was! Pure delight. Reread twice so far. My only complaint about your books is that they end! wahhh... keep writing!!!! just a few short of having all of them and half of those i have already reread twice... We need you on this side of the pond!!! ta! :)

July 13/11 - this is coming out in October under a new title - The Magic of Christmas
