After eating foods made with Barry's Farm sweet potato flour, I began to have some GI problems. I called Barry Foods to find out the details of this product - who they get it from, where it's grown, whether it's cooked or raw, if it's processed in any way, etc. They flatly refused to tell me anything about this product. According to my online research, the manufacture of sweet potato flour is a cottage industry in Africa and China, grown at home and dried in huts. I'm not touching this stuff ever again! The possibilities for contamination are endless, and I suggest you do not order this product. There needs to be transparency around food safety, and a company that will not disclose basic information about a product is not to be trusted.

I bought this and other products from Barry farms. One bag was mislabeled (labeled as fructose but contained some type of flour) notified the company. The said I was lying and refused to replace the product. Buy at your own risk! They do not guarantee the product is what the label says!

This product is labeled a sweet potato flour, and accordingly I expected it to be a flour, made from whole sweet potatoes. It is not. This product is a sweet potato starch, with just the starch ( flavorless) parts of the potato used.

Great sweet potato flour! I would buy again from this farm. They did a great job. I would recommend buying two or three bags if you plan on using a lot. I bought this and the blue cornmeal flour which was fantastic.

FYI - To avoid higher shipping - buy larger quantities or a variety of flours. I made that mistake and was surprised at the charge due to the flour weight. You can trust this vender. They do take a little over a week to get their product to you but it's worth it.

Good product good service,
this is not a Gluten free product as I expected.
I ate a little bit two times and it kicked my Gluten allergy.
Else I recommend it for regular diet

I never "expect" alternative flours to be celiac safe. That's just a stupid thing to do. I made Fufu using SPF as the primary ingredient. I did have a reaction; HOWEVER, in using it in small amounts, no reaction has been had. Correlation is not causation, I know, so I would give this product a thumbs up with caution for celiacs.
If you are looking for a non-wheat alternative without being celiac, I enthusiastically encourage you to buy this product. It has fine texture, making it versatile for quickbreads, pancakes, fufu, empanadas, tamales, and coating for frying things... use your imagination... the list continues.
Enjoy!

I am mixing plantain, tigernut & sweet potato flours with a small percentage of ground chia for delicious baked goods without any grain. The flavor is neutral and my baked goods are coming out delicious and soft, with no other adjustments for "gluten/grain-free", and no nasty gums or starches!

We are gluten free and I like to use as little grains as possible. I thought this would be a nice and nutrient rich way to add some more flavor to our mixes. It is but has a very strange, bitter aftertaste if you use to high a proportion of this flour with other things. I would use it again, but be sparing.
