Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
The "Sisters K" return from the near dead with a bouncy album that in some ways suggests the early work of another musical sister, Shania Twain. Both acts offer a youthful pop sound that occasionally mimics hoedown music in the most superficial way, and both depend on layered production. Here, the Osborn siblings work from an inventive harmony base whipped into a frenzied swirl of sound by über-producer Dann Huff. Both acts also craft lyrics that can be astonishingly empty and insipid, but on Sweet Down Here, Kristyn Osborn and her various co-writers sink to new depths of banality. As a lyricist, Kristyn is at her intelligent best when she settles into brokenhearted love ballads such as "Without a Sound" and "Come Home Soon." Otherwise, she spends her time on "Passenger Seat" chewing on a Slim Jim and waiting for that first kiss (what, no garlic breath?); on "360˚ of You" she strikes a Lolita pose ("nibblin' my thumb 'cause I want me some"). She dots the rest of the album with references to plopping down on wet toilet seats and nailing her man ("you're a pesky little fly, I'm the pink plastic swatter"). They sure ain't the Dixie Chicks, but country music, that working-class genre, is nothing if not an equal-opportunity employer. --Alanna Nash

5.0 out of 5 stars Ever So Sweet, January 15, 2005
When "Passenger Seat" was released as a single a while back, I was so happy I could have wet myself. It was so great to have SHeDAISY back, and now that I have this lovely little CD, I don't have to wait around for the radio to play them (country radio doesn't seem to favor them as much as Strait and Jackson and the like. Damn you purist country men and your 'traditional' music. ^_^) I don't think I've been this neurotically fixated on an album since Keith Urban's. All of the songs are wonderful.

"Passenger Seat" is totally fun (and true to it's name, I like this one more being played in a car.) "Come Home Soon" is beautiful, and so are the other ballads "Borrowed Home", "Without A Sound" "He's a Hero" and particularly "I Dare You." Although, my favorite ballad is "Love Goes On"--the chorus especially and the music just really grab me. The best upbeat song, and my personal favorite on the album, is "360 Degrees of You" (How many of us haven't looked at a guy and thought, "Huh, you know, I don't really know your name or anything, but you're really hot, will you marry me? And if not, can I have a picture?") "5 4 3 2 Run" contains the what I consider the funniest (though it really shouldn't be, considering what "trollop" means) line on the CD, which is "truck-stop trollop selling roses from a van for a dime" which was stuck in my head for days. "Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing" always makes me laugh. We've all got our problems, and truly the best way to deal with them is to poke fun at and laugh at them. As a total klutz to whom rather unfavorable and embarrassing things tend to happen, and as someone to whom lots of people vent their own problems, I can really relate to that one. "Blah blah blah blah blah" indeed. I admit it took me a bit to get attached to "Good Together (Bucket and Chicken)" but now I love it as well as it should be loved. And then, ah, "A Woman's Work." At the risk of sounded twisted, I really, really, really love this song, almost as much as I love "360 Degrees of You." I mean, it's a song about a (evidently) schizophrenic mass-murderer named Ruby. How freaking nifty is that, ladies and gentlemen? "Still the voices shout, take the garbage out." If nothing else you have to admire them for having the guts to cut this song, because I could see where a lot of other people would have a problem with it. I'd kind of like to see it released on radio just to see what everyone's reaction would be.

But anyway, every one of the songs are fantastic, and the songwriting is superb. As a writer/sometimes-songwriter myself, Kristyn is rapidly becoming one of my heroes. I'm always so pleased to see it when artists/groups write or co-write their own music--it makes listening to it that much more enjoyable for me, knowing it came from their own minds and souls instead of someone else's. Keep up the great work, SHeDAISY.

5.0 out of 5 stars what i was looking for , December 19, 2004
I heard the song come home soon on the radio when I went home for thanksgiving from overseas. I listened forever to figure out who sang it. That song is the greatest song I have heard. I am a military spouse whose husband is deployed for the year and when I heard that song it was about me and my life. when I finished listening to it I had tears running down my face. Thanks to amazon i finally found the cd . I miss my husband dearly and constantly wonder if he is ok and what he is doing I am so proud of him .That song pretty much tells what you feel like sometimes as a military spouse and I thank Shedaisy for writing that song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the editorial reveiw!, June 9, 2004
By "louleez" (Cary, North Carolina United States) - See all my reviews
The Osborn Sisters have done it again. Shedaisy's third album, Sweet Right Here, is by far their best work to date. The tunes as catchy as the ones from their first album, and lyrics as mature as those on their second.

Kristyn Osborn's songs have created the signature sound for SheDaisy since their debut, but with Sweet Right Here, this talented songwriter has outdone herself. Sassy, fun songs like "360 Degrees of You" and "Good Together" showcase her creativity. More introspective songs like "Without A Sound" and "Love Goes On" give emotional weight to the album. On my favorite track is "Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing", the Osborn Sisters show us that they don't take themselves too seriously. The song playfully refers to events that have occurred in the girls lives since their last release of an album.

The track "He's A Hero", written by Kristyn when she was 18, gives us a look back into her songwriting beginnings. Even then, she was expertly crafting lyrics that touch the heart and make you smile.

I would definitely recommend this album to country fans who like beautiful voices and creative songs. I hope Shedaisy keeps releasing albums like this. It has already become a staple of my CD collection.
