5.0 out of 5 stars A must for Maria's fans, October 16, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Sweet & Slow (Audio CD)
This album's had a pretty low profile since its release, but it's an absolutely superb piece of work that ranks with Maria's first three solo albums: "Maria Muldaur", "Waitress in the Donut Shop", and the unfortunately out-of-print "Sweet Harmony". The arrangements on this one are stripped down to bass, piano and drums for the most part, but Maria's musical sensibilities are as sassy, swinging, funky and sultry as can be. No fan of Maria's should overlook "Sweet and Slow".

5.0 out of 5 stars simply classy, August 26, 2010

Immaculate laid back piano playing, perfectly complementing Maria Muldaur's wonderful voice, raunchy and tender by turns. Fab.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Little-Known Gem, November 9, 2004

Like Maria Muldaur herself, this CD has been neglected over the years. But that doesn't take away from the fact that this is a first-rate effort, one that deserves to be better known. Starting off with the sweetly comic "Cooking Breakfast With the One I Love," Maria explores all the colors of her wonderful voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant performance and recording as well., June 10, 2011
This review is from: Sweet & Slow (Audio CD)
I must admit to not being the greatest follower of Maria Muldaur. I am fond of this album though. Let me tell you, this is one of the few albums where everything comes together. The band (with another pianist-star on side B than on side A) is exceptionally good. They really play together. Add a very fine vocal performance from Maria Muldaur, and you have great stuff! But, possibly the best comes on top of this all: very, VERY few 'pop' albums have a really good recording quality. This album stands out in this regard. All in all, this album is a rare gem!
