Sweet Soul Suicide showcases Shane Hines ability to provoke and engage listeners with profound lyrics and unexpected musical shifts that reveal his seriousness, depth, and talent as a musician. Hines' emotionally observant questions and reflections are ones that we often avoid, yet are relieved to hear them spoken out loud. His aggressive melodies and subtle hooks mark him as an intelligent and poetic musician. Sweet Soul Suicide is simultaneously substantive, musically entertaining and memorable; a rare find amidst today's predicitable lyrics and tunes.

Shane's songwriting is awesomely honest and creative, both in lyrics and music. I love the genuineness and depth of his lyric writing and the music and great vocals draw you into the words. This is a great album. I've just heard his newest "Zoe" and recommend that one too... WOW!...He just gets better and better. Thanks Shane!

Wow - Shane Hines' latest release has been in my CD player since I bought it at a recent show. Voice: amazing; songs: amazing; melodies: amazing. This is a truly gifted album by one of the most talented musicians around today.

I just had the pleasure of hearing Shane Hines (solo) at the Herndon Festival in Virginia today. I completely agree with the previous reviewer: on stage, his amazing musical talents come across without ever seeming that he is trying to "show off" by over-playing. His stage presence is powerful without being forced. There is a personal quality to his lyrics that indicate, as previously noted, a intimacy to share his personal demons and inner thoughts. Candid and provocative while never seeming like he's trying to lecture a message as so often happens. A true performer / song-writer that, in today's overproduced, American Idol world is a welcome refreshment.

Sweet Soul Suicide is an excellent cd!! It's a must for anyone who wants to hear great tunes with thought-provoking lyrics. His music truly does touch the soul with its honesty and depth. Other cds come and go, but SSS holds a permanent place in my cd player . Even my 2-year old loves it. She always says, "Play Shane, Play Shane" whenever we ride in the car. Check out tracks # 4 and # 8.

Sweet Soul Suicide is a beautiful mix of blues and rock that touches the soul. Hines shows great range in lyrics and style and really pushes the envelope with his music. Another winner from Hines.
