Another wonderful surprise of a cookbook. Ben Mims wrote this beautiful book and Noah Fecks took the photographs .

This is so much more than the basic Southern baking book. There are some standards -- biscuits and the like of course - but in addition we have: Cantaloupe Upside Down Cake, Cinnamon Chocolate Spekkuk, Peanut Butter Cup Smith Island Cake, Red Velvet Cake without the awful dye -- I will not eat those horrid bright red creations - but this one is truly beautiful and interesting, Peanut Butter Apple Tart (an apple and peanut butter is a wonderful treat that I love - so this recipe interests me), Pineapple Tarte Tatin, Pumpkin Kanafe, Banana Biscuit Dumplings in Syrup, Cardamom Eclairs and German Style Bread - are some of the standouts - but there are so many more recipes that look and sound incredible.

Chapters are broken down into Cakes, Pies & Tarts, Biscuits, Breads and Pastries, Custards and Puddings, Cookies and Confections and Frozen Treats so there is something for everyone.

This book is chock full of delicious desserts that I haven't come across yet. Some are a great twist on other desserts I'm away of but some were completely new approach that I just loved to learn. I would recommend this to anyone interested in learning some new desserts that they might not have come across yet.

This book is amazing! Of course, I may be a bit partial considering he was a classmate of mine throughout school. Buy this and your mouth will water at the deliciousness inside and its even better when you bake it. If you aren't an avid baker then some recipes might be challenging but they are worth the time and effort for the TASTE!
