The author is an award winning PGA Teaching Professional and knows what he's talking about. As he points out the club face is the only direct influence you have on the golf ball. The key to hitting the ball well is to match up the sweet spot on the ball with the sweet spot on the club. This is what the author explains in the simplest terms possible. If you have ever struggled with hitting a golf ball (and who hasn't, it's not easy) this book will be able to help you.
A friend told me about this book so I figured I would pick up a copy. I am glad that I did. I have the problem of thinking way too complex when it comes to getting better and that is why I haven't yet. The Sweet Spot breaks things down in a very simplistic fashion so that the reader only has to focus on a few key things. If you focus on these few things you will see positive results in your game.
I would recommend this book to anybody who loves to golf already or anybody who is picking up a club for the first time. There is years of knowledge inside of these two covers.
This book will not tell you how to create a beautiful swing, you need a certified coach to do that. This book will simply tell you to focus on hitting the sweet spot every single time. That is 90% of the battle of golf. If you hit the sweet spot the ball will travel. I would rather have an ugly swing and hit the green than have a beautiful swing and scramble for par/bogey.
Take your time with this book. Break down each element in this book and spend 2 weeks (minimum) before moving on to the next lesson. The urge to take all the learning to the course immediately is immense; but this book tells you to fight it.
The important part in this book is to learn each item correcty and let your mind take over from there. Its a beautifully written book, short on pictures but you really dont need them. I am a visual person like so many others but I could understand each and every word the author meant to convey here.
Finally, I feel that if I put in the hours practising what is taught in this book, my scores will drop and my game will improve. Give yourself 6 months to learn the elements prescribed in this book. If done correctly, I am confident you will see your scores drop.
