I've surrendered...., December 21, 2003
This review is from: Sweet Surrender (Audio CD)
I bought this single just for Sweet Surrender. It is worth it. The remixes on this CD aren't great; they are truly repetitive and very boring. These remixes just give a different flavor to Sweet Surrender, and from my opinion, they destroy the integrity of the song.
I would recommend this single alone though for Sweet Surrender Radio Edit. The instrumentation and the re-editing much better than the Album Version. Sure, they might be subtle, but it is much better. Sarah's vocals are amplified in this version, meaning her vocals are much better heard than the Album version. There is much more dramatic impact in this version than the Album version. Also, this version of Sweet Surrender is used as the music video for this song.
This is a great single, only for Sweet Surrender. If you're a fan, and enjoy Sweet Surrender, I would recommend looking into this single. If you're a fan looking for a Sweet Surrender remix, I wouldn't recommend any of these (for sure these would not bee seen played during a club scene). But, if you want a remix version, I highly recommend Sweet Surrender Boilerhouse remix. That is by far the best remix.
This CD single deserves 5 stars alone for the Sweet Surrender Radio Edit. If you're a music listener and notice all the little details, I'm sure you would agree with me. This single would have done well just alone with the radio edit. Purchase if you are a true fan.

Sarah McLachlan - Sweet Surrender, February 24, 2011
This review is from: Sweet Surrender (Audio CD)
Sarah McLachlan's innocuous brand of girl-pop has enchanted many a sensitive girl with long hair -- but luckily on this single, her music gets roughed up a little. SWEET SURRENDER is given a drum 'n' bass mix by Roni Size. Stripped of most of its vocals, his mix is atmospheric, slightly mysterious. But the mix to go to is the Uberzone mix, which situates Sarah's angelic voice and lyrics in some funky 80s breaks, making for some incredibly bouncy fun. Forget the navel-gazing; let's boogie!

I stumbled upon Sarah McLachlan because of her beautiful voice in the movie City of Angels. What can I say, I'm a true blue fan now. You won't be disappointed with Sweet Surrender. The rhythm and beats in these mixes are very tastefully done -not to mention smooth and certainly groovy. Good enough to start dancing and singing along to. Excellent vocals and a great energetic song. Go get it!
