5.0 out of 5 stars This is serious addiction., March 29, 2008
By Nikiforos V. Skoumas (Athens Greece, Cambridge UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the second album by Swedish glam metal band "The Poodles" following their 2006 debut. Although on their second release, band members are by no means the new kids on the block; Lead singer Jacob Samuel was the original "Talisman" drummer back in 89-90 while guitarist Pontus Norgren played with "Great King Rat" amongst other glam outfits before joining "Talisman" in the late 90s.
This album is loaded with fantastic Hard Rock tracks that mange to capture one's full attention. The musicianship and the composing level challenges and surpasses most glorified 80s bands while at the same time sounds spontaneous and natural.
This album definitely does not follow the cliché of having two hit songs amongst a handful of fillers. Indeed, from start to finish every song has something to offer; every composition has its own individuality while at the same time retains the cohesiveness of the album as a whole.
In comparison to their debut, this album goes far from their love/hate themes, rather promoting the idea of taking chances, defying odds and claiming one's territory. Personal favorites include: "Thunderball", "Streets of Fire", "Seven seas", "Reach the sky" and "Walk the line".
This band has got everything; incredible compositions, original image, powerful vocals and one can not help but love Kicken's four-bass beat drum set. If there is indeed a revival of the glam metal genre then "The Poodles" are epitomizing the progress in Europe.

"Powerplay" UK magazine (issue 95) marks this release with 9/10 awarding it as "album of the month"

5.0 out of 5 stars A Superb Follow Up CD, August 31, 2008
This is the Poodles Sophmore Cd and boy does it ever hold up in sound and quality. You get more great songs great lyrics and the album builds and builds. This is one of those cds that you wish you can buy without feeling ripped off---the I want a cd with more than 3 good songs on it.Well, here you get a whole cd of fantastic songs--Flesh and blood --a stadium rock anthem,Streets of Fire another crushing metal anthem.Seven Seas--chilling and fantastic. All the songs here are memorable--i can sit here and review each song and it can't translate until you hear it for yourself.Take a listed on YOU Tube to these guys and you'll understand what I am saying. This cd and the others they have have that 80's metal feel but are fresh and new sounding. The lyrics are very good and not just dripping with cheesiness.I could easily put myself at a concert of theirs, but the bottom line is that won't happen unless you trek overseas.A fantastic cd and band that you'd never hear about in the states. This cd and the others they have is money well spent.Bottom line is these guys i believe would be as huge here as they are in Europe if they were promoted here in the states.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something new in the world for me., July 28, 2008
This review is from: Sweet Trade (Audio CD)
This is my first CD of these guys and it ROCKS! It reminds me of so many other bands that had a definite style and sound. They have the 80s sound perfectly. Pick any of the "big hair" bands or even the glam or hard rock bands and you could stand them all in good stead by adding in these guys. I am a huge 80s fan and they bring to my mind Def Lepard.. Motly Crue.. Vixen or any of a dozen others. I heartily recommend giving these guys a listen.
