From the Back Cover

A missionary with no converts . . .
A lady with no manners . . .
An adventure like none before . . .

In her silk sari and bare feet, Violet Rosse is anything but a proper English miss. Born in England but raised in India, Violet has fallen passionately in love with the flora and fauna of her adopted country. So when her father makes plans to ship her back to England to marry, Violet will do everything in her power to thwart his wishes and keep the only home she’s ever known.

In desperation, Violet’s father convinces frustrated missionary Edmund Sherbourne to find Violet and escort her back to England. Little does Edmund realize what it will mean to capture Violet and transplant her to foreign soil.

As Edmund and Violet cross paths in pursuit of impossible dreams, they embark on an adventure that will change their lives forever.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Read, July 20, 2005
This review is from: Sweet Violet: English Ivy Series #3 (HeartQuest) (Paperback)
Catherine Palmer is one of my favorite romance authors and I have thoroughly enjoyed her Heart Quest Ivy series. Palmer is wonderful at weaving in exotic places into her books. She does it again with Violet a rebellious young English girl raised in India by her ayah. Edmund (who was the brother to Randolph from book 2 in this series) is a missionary who hasn't gained one convert in his years in India. At the chance of getting a license to preach and his own church Edmund agrees to Violet's father's terms even though he doesn't fully agree with his motives. The only faults I find in this book are how child like Violet is. Sometimes she seems more like a rebellious teenager than a woman. This book is a bit unbelievable too when it comes to Olivia and Edmund's relationship. Even though Edmund realizes that the Hewes aren't as bad as they seem after all of the years of family hatred you can hardly expect them to call each other "brother" and "sister". It would have been more believable for them just to call each other by their first names. Otherwise the books many good qualities outweigh its bad ones. If you liked the other books in this series you will love this one also!

i love this book. i love the long, tender, adventurous romance. i love the missionary's transformation into a "real" man and how he gave his testimony and the message of Jesus' love as much and as best as he could. i loved every single detail about India, the colours, the customs, the food, the scents. i loved how the missionary cared and protected and fought for Violet.... i loved every single thing about this romantic, exotic book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, October 11, 2007
Catherine Palmer is a great writer, but this one is not as good as the other two in this series. It's a little long and draggy.
