5.0 out of 5 stars Jewel Sweet and Wild is another beautiful album from a beautiful voice named Jewel
Jewels new album Sweet and Wild is another beautiful album from this one of a kind voice. I have been listening to Jewels music since 1995 when her first album Pieces of You was released. 3.0 out of 5 stars Jewel has done better.
Great sound for Jewel, "Gone Country", but there are a couple of songs that are just downright depressing. This would be OK, if it were the "sweet" sadness kind of depressing, but the lyrics are just downright annoying on "Fading" and there are a couple other songs that leave you wishing they weren't there. Overall, short of memorable.

Jewels new album Sweet and Wild is another beautiful album from this one of a kind voice. I have been listening to Jewels music since 1995 when her first album Pieces of You was released. I have followed her on this amazing journey as I watch and listen to her grow as a artist. Now days Jewel is known as a country artist, but to me and many others (who followed her from the start) she is still Jewel with no labels like coutry, folk, or pop associated with her. Her music has always been more than just those labels. Her music crosses so many different styles its not fair to label her music. Sweet and Wild is a more personal album and is about love and happiness as Jewel herself says. The whole album is great, but the stand out tracks are Fading, What You Are, Satisfied, No More Heartaches, Bad As It Gets, and Stay Here Forever.

I highly recommend getting the deluxe edition Sweet and Wild [Deluxe Edition] [2 CD] of this album. It will please those early Jewel fans because it has a second CD (titled Sweet and Mild) which has the entire album in Acoustic just like old school Pieces of You Jewel. Both versions are beautiful, but the acoustic version gives a whole new life to the music. I highly suggest getting this amazing and beautiful album from this amazing artist known as Jewel.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bland country music, September 3, 2010
This review is from: Sweet and Wild (Audio CD)
I liked Jewel's previous country effort, Perfectly Clear, as a whole - I'm disappointed with Sweet and Wild, which is definitely more pop than country and very bland, musically and (unfortunately) lyrically. Pandering to teen audiences who like Taylor Swift and aiming at commerciable singles at any cost doesn't work for Jewel. Too bad, I had a lot of faith in her country turn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the Last Two, July 25, 2010
This review is from: Sweet and Wild (Audio CD)
I would like to publicly apologize to Jewel for having doubted her. And I did doubt her. Goodbye alice in Wonderland was an okay album, but nowhere near as good as what she'd done before it. That's probably when I started to lose interest. And then came Perfectly Clear. It was a good concept. After all, why not try to tackle a genre she'd always wanted to be part of? But the result wasn't exactly impressive. If anything, it left me disappointed. Lullaby was pretty much the same: a lovely concept, but not so much in actual execution. So when I found out Jewel was coming out with a new album, I just didn't have that normal excitement I used to when I heard she had new music coming out. That didn't stop me from buying it though.
The day Sweet and Wild came out, my grandmother and I went straight out to get it and listen to it on the way home (a tradition of ours by now, seeing as Jewel is one of the few artists both of us love).
As soon as the first track started, I was glad to have bought it. By the fourth, I was in love. My grandma was too. And we had to play Bad as it Gets three times, just to hear her voice on that song.
Sweet and Wild is the best thing Jewel has done in years, in my opinion. It's not really a return to anything though, which is what a lot of her fans have been hoping for in the past few years. It's a giant leap forward. It's possibly the best thing she's done yet.

No Good in Goodbye - 5/5
I Love You Forever - 4/5
Fading - 3.5/5 (takes a while to grow on you though)
What You Are - 5/5
Bad as it Gets - 5/5 (her voice makes up for what the lyrics are lacking)
Summer Home in Your Arms - 4/5
Stay Here Forever - 4/5 (i thought i hated it at first, but it grew on me)
No More Heartaches - 3/5
One True Thing - 5/5
Ten - 5/5
Satisfied - 4/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Jewel Does it Again, June 21, 2010
This review is from: Sweet and Wild (Audio CD)
What can I say - nine albums later, each one is better than the last! Jewel, who always has been country, continues to demonstrate what a true lyricist she truly is. Her angelic voice really does go from "Sweet" and "Wild" throughout the album - a perfect title! For any current or former fan of Jewel - get this CD if you want to be reminded why she dominated the Billboards in the 90s. She has remained honest and authentic throughout 15 years, constantly changing and improving her craft.

Check out, "What You Are," "Satisfied," and "Fading" - but all eleven songs are wonderful. You will not be disappointed.

jewels' newest release is another solid one. its supposed to be "country" but falls in line with the rest of her albums (except for 1314). it's well written and the music is great. jewel is well known for her lyrics, and she doesn't disappoint. the song "fading" is my personal favourite. i opted for the regular release, but am curious enough to plan on getting the deluxe verion. i would like to hear the songs with just her and a guitar. the artwork is beautiful and the 11 songs flow by. i wish it were longer which is always a good sign. a great accessible album that i will be listening to for a long time

5.0 out of 5 stars Grown-up Jewel, April 6, 2011
This review is from: Sweet and Wild (Audio CD)
I was a bit apprehensive to hear what "country" Jewel would sound like, having grown quite fond of Jewel's early material, but I'm happy to report that this album is every bit as inspired and beautiful as anything else she's put out. She's grown up; she's not a bright-eyed, nearly homeless teenager with new-found fame. She's settled down and it shows. But I don't think that married-with-a-ranch Jewel is any less insightful than living-in-her-car Jewel. I'd recommend this album to anyone who likes Jewel's lyrics or voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy the Deluxe, February 23, 2011
This review is from: Sweet and Wild (Audio CD)
The Deluxe album is the way to go. You get to see two sides of Jewel, the acoustic girl we all grew up loving and a more wild side with band.
Of course I always note that I am a Jewel fan so I am a bit biased- but this is the album that hooked my aunt and now we share Jewel's music all of the time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet & Wild is very good; not great., December 25, 2010
This review is from: Sweet and Wild (Audio CD)
I always love Jewel. Sweet & Wild is really good but it cannot compare to Pieces Of You which is totally epic! The one stand out song Satisfied I can can listen to a thousand times and never get bored by it, absolutely stunning. Jewel's voice is always great but the rest of the CD didn't stick for me so it's in my collection but not in my car for playin'.
