5.0 out of 5 stars Everything is Gonna be alright as long as you have this cd
This album is one the greatest albums that I have heard in a long time. I think that it is truly amazing the way that Sweetbox combine rap lyrics with Classical music, such as the Intro in the song "Don't Go Away", and "Everything's gonna be alright."If you are into rap music, but love ballads as well, you will love this album. Be sure to buy it...

1.0 out of 5 stars don't waste your money
this is the worst cd I have ever bought. Aside from "everything's gonna be alright" the songs and melodies are horrible. They are so boring that I Haven't been able to get through any of the songs entirely. I would never recommend this cd to anyone but if for some reason you still want this cd, I'll give you my copy. Just promise me that when you hear it, you...

4.0 out of 5 stars Two great classical pieces with rap., May 17, 2004

I would like to correct something to my review. The hit "Everything's gonna be alright" is based on Bach's Air on a G String and not on the Pachelbel Canon.
Secondly, the "Don't go away" song is based on Mahler's Adagietto from Symphony no. 5 in C Sharp Minor.

Be sure to buy it if you don't already have it, and while you are at it, Pick up a copy of Ace of Base's album "Flowers."

I discovered Sweetbox on a compilation dance cd and picked up the album from the local library branch. I find that in addition to her hit "Everything's gonna be alright" that features great lyrics set to the Pachelbel Canon, the first track on the cd, "Don't go away", is just as good. Apparently the underlying classical music is taken from a Mahler symphony though I have not been able to verify this yet. The liner notes give credit to the symphony orchestras that perform and the choir but not to the name of the pieces from the repertoire from where they were taken. I enjoy classical music as much as pop and though I didn't like listening to the album the first time, it has grown on me. One drawback is that it is only 37:44 in length in just eleven tracks so you don't get much bang for the buck.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOMELY AMAZING!!!, August 27, 2003

Sweetbox is an awesome CD. I feel that it should be placed back in stores. It has a variety of style and some of the songs have an amazing meaning. "Everything's Gonna Be Alright" was a song that was played for me and kept me going when sometimes I felt like nothing more could go wrong. I'd buy this CD for my friends and family if I could find it. PUT IT BACK IN STORES!!!!

I love this CD. Not only is it my kind of music I like, but it has the song "Air from Suite No. 3" in it, which is my favorite song also. I highly recomend you go out and buy it, or buy it right here on amazon.com.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pop pap, April 12, 2001
This review is from: Sweetbox (Audio CD)
This CD's only redeeming value is that it is unbelievably short. The songs range from boring and inane to irritating. Regardless of the classical music artificially infused into the background, this CD is nothing more than half an hour of filler material. Trite lyrics and uninteresting rhymes are beaten to death in a repetitious cycle that doesn't seem to end.

Nothing lifts this singer's talent out of the current cesspool of R&B artists except for her somewhat smooth rapping ability. Her rapping skill is fairly well-developed and interesting. With obvious influences of L.L. Cool J and Salt & Pepa, Sweetbox's rapping persona of a woman in love comes across powerfully. However this is all marred by the complete lack of lyrical ingenuity. Her delivery is good, but what she is saying is filled with cliches and rhymes that are fit for a 4th grade poetry contest.

Stay away from this one, it isn't worth 15 bucks.

I love this CD, it could inspire someone to dust off the classical CDs. In fact, I MUST find out WHICH Mahler piece "Don't Go Away" is based on (that's track #1, NOT "Everything's Gonna Be Alright"--we all know that's Bach). Does anyone know??? Please post in your review!
