Book Description

Strong willed and independent, Frankie McGregor is determined to make a new life for herself and six year old Charlie. Working for her uncle in Chance, Texas, she will be able to support Charlie and give him the life he deserves. And saying goodbye to her home in the mountains means leaving behind painful memories of the past.

Seth Murphy has his heart set on Violet Summers, the beautiful, spoiled daughter of the local banker. When a careless accident forces him to work for Frankie’s uncle, his first meeting with his employer’s stubborn niece barely catches his attention, much less his heart. But working with Frankie side by side everyday, a friendship begins to bloom. Or is it more than that?

Can Frankie come to terms with her past and allow herself to be honest with the man she loves? Will Seth unlock his heart to God’s will for his life?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read..... April 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Just finished reading "The Sweetgrass Bride", I liked it.....a lot. Personally I liked how the author gave time to all of the characters in her story. We got to meet Charlie, Uncle Wally, Mrs. Hamilton & Violet & learn a bit about them all, not just the main characters. So many times you read a story of this length & the author tries to cram too much in the story & the flow of the telling gets lost. But with this story as Ms. Briggs has done here, & with her other stories, she has shown a talent for keeping the story on track & flowing as it should. I wish it was longer but then I wish that with any good book that I read, I just don't want to see it end. Truth be told, the length is just right for an evening of reading. I know "The Sweetgrass Bride" just came out, but that doesn't stop me from anxiously awaiting her next book. :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweetgrass Bride May 7, 2013

Very sweet, light reader. Author keeps your attention. You want to keep on reading to see how it all turns out and if Frankie will overcome her secret. It was not a real stretch to guess what the secret was, given the times and circumstances of her life, but all the same, it was a nice ending for her in an otherwise difficult life. I liked the book and would recommend it for a good read on a rainy afternoon..

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book! January 16, 2014

I love that Seth does not look down upon Frankie because she is uneducated. Instead he teaches her arithmatic and gives her confidence is learning to read. Not to mention his faith in God!... Awesome! My favorite part is when Seth puts a key on Frankie's desk at the end and gives her a choice... oh my gosh!...... I won't spoil anymore for you!!

Happy reading!!!

Just loved this book! As with all Mary L Biggs novels, one is taken back into the past and it feels as if one is living alongside the characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very sweet story February 28, 2015

Characters are genuine, easy to like, warm, and honest. Frankie's secret was a little surprising but was supported by the story. In other words, it didn't come out of left field. Very much a book about families, and the value of persistence and the importance of appreciating humble beginnings. I loved Frankie and Charlie's journey. However, I don't think we saw enough of Frankie and Seth's courting. The culmination of the romance came too suddenly towards the end. It would have been nice to see him officially courting her over a period of time, rather than have it rushed over with "months later".
