Bonnie Lee is the meaning of the word blues. Having seen her in person in Chicago, I bought the cd knowing that I would like what I heard. I was rewarded beyond expectation with the many hits Ms.Lee performs on this cd.. Definately a must have for he serious "Blues collector:

I can't believe Bonnie Lee has so few reviews. I saw her perform in person a few years ago at B.L.U.E.S. on N Halsted in Chicago, and wanted to look up her other material or catch her live on a return trip. It appears she only has 2 releases and is not active. That's really a shame because she is an incredible talent. She has some great fast tunes, as well as some slow, soulful tunes, and great instrumental accompaniment. Willie Kent and the Gents sing (and play) on a number of songs. Every one of these songs is a gem, but I especially enjoy Give Me All Your Lovin, a great tune about losing love, I Love You Baby, with the great "Don't Stop" refrain, and Since I Fell For You, a slow song that lets the horns and piano blend perfectly with, and shows the amazing range of Bonnie's voice. Ocean of Tears is a haunting, southern slave sounding tune with great backing vocals. Gosh, like I said, they are all good. If you are a blues fan, buy this album. You will not regret it.
-- After typing this review I discovered Bonnie Lee died in September, 2006 at the age of 75. Willie Kent died the same year. Guy King is one of the surviving "Gents" who plays a bit around town, and may be worth a listen.
