I cannot say with words how such a large volume of musical performances could be assembled with care and made available to the public after so many years of being extinct. Here you have 5 cd's By Shirley and Lee with Dave Bartholomew's band performing all of their greatest hits and non hits with most of the recordings in STEREO, coming to America from Germany. The liner notes tell of Lee's passing and of Shirley's ill health of recent years where most people have forgotten that Shirley & Lee ever existed. With New Orleans being recently destroyed by Katrina, I pray that Shirley survives. These recordings will bring one to tears of joy and sadness with the true sound and spirit of old New Orleans. Let the good times roll!

There seems to be a lack of interest in this package of songs as to the vast majority of old-time rock and rollers, etc., Shirley Goodman and Leonard Lee are known only for the song, "Let the Good Times Roll" and the old rockers on hand back then are no longer young. The fact is that there was a series of songs detailing the couple's pretend "love life", a break-up, a reconciliation, etc. It kept some people's interests going with each new song. Their biggest hits however, besides the above, were "Feel So Good" and "I Feel Good". Dick Clark has commented that the old-time good RNR ended at about the time Peter, Paul and Mary arrived on the scene. It must be true as in 1963 Shirley and Lee were out of the business as a duo. Then came the Beatles. Leonard Lee died at about the age of 40. Although you may have never heard of ANY of these songs, they are representative of music from the 1950s from the black community, much like Ray Charles' early Atlantic recordings and are very listenable. They're worth listening to all the way through the whole package if you will devote an evening to it. And if you have a hundred bucks.
