Another winner.,

I've been a fan of Lori Wilde's for a while now so it was with much anticipation that I read this book. The Sweetheart's Knitting club has all the ingredients for a great romance (for me) : the reunion, the second-chance at love, the small town setting, the lovable characters and the great writing that just wraps all those elements up together perfectly.
Jesse (the supposedly bad boy) and Flynn (the good girl) are impossible not to love. My heart literally broke for them. I wondered, before reading it, how the author would manage to deal with the 10-years-in-prison convict but her story really worked for me. It's exactly the kind of book that made me read romances in the first place. You'll finish it with a big smile on your face... and addicted as well ! No worries though, it is part of a series. Can't hardly wait to read the others (the cookie club one in particular) !

Surprisingly weak offering from Lori Wilde,
By Bobgirl (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Sweethearts' Knitting Club (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm a big fan of Lori Wilde and especially admired her wonderful Wedding Veil Wishes series. So it pains me to say that this book was almost unrecognizable as one of Lori's books. I kept waiting for this boring book to get better and unfortunately, it never did. It was almost a complete waste of my time.
It started out with promise: Flynn, the eternal good girl who never strays from the image that is expected of her and Jesse, the returning "bad" boy, who was framed for a crime he didn't commit by Flynn's jealous high school boyfriend. But when he finally hits town, it is a start and stop dance of conflicted emotions on Flynn's part. The use of the character questioning herself was completely overdone. "Why does he make me feel this way? What should I do about it?" Blah, blah, frickin' blah! This is throughout the whole book! Flynn only commits herself to Jesse in the last pages and I never really felt any chemistry between the two. It is ridiculously obvious that the "perfect" sheriff is really psychotic and the cause of all the trouble, yet his fate for being responsible for illegal activity is never resolved! For an author who wrote some of the best thriller romances such as "You Only Love Twice," the "suspense" part of the book was utterly weak. I can't figure out if the intention was to be obvious or what, but it didn't work. I think there were too many storylines thrown in here and everything was muddled into a knotted mess. The writing was shockingly bad. I'm not sure what direction Lori is taking, but I sure don't like it.

Breathtaking,
This review is from: The Sweethearts' Knitting Club (Mass Market Paperback)
At first I thought this was going to be about a bunch of old ladies sitting in a circle knitting. True, there are old ladies and knitting involved but that is just a piece of the story. Flynn is not old and she doesn't know how to knit. Beau is her fiance, and he does not knit either. Jesse is an ex-con and Flynn's true love and trust me, knitting is not how he passed the time in prison.
I found myself drawn to the romance between Flynn and Jesse. I thought Beau was a pushy cop who thought he could have whatever he wanted. He is constantly pushing Flynn to marry him and always backing her in a corner. I wanted to jump in the book and knock the crap out of him. Jesse was a pure Southern gentleman who may have been recently released from prison, but wanted to make a fresh start with Flynn. Whenever Jesse's dialogue came up, I could just picture him in my head with his southern accent. When a writer can describe a character with just what he is speaking, you know you have a new Bestselling Author! The author kept me glued to the pages, consumed by the passion and story that I never wanted it to end. It flowed great and was detailed perfectly. A new author for me that I will keep an eye on for new releases. Once again, BREATHTAKING!

Welcome to Twilight, Texas, where hair is big, men are hot, and high school sweethearts are still married 50 years later. Flynn MacGregor feels like a total fraud - she has lived for her family for so long that she doesn't even know what she really wants from life. But she's pretty sure she doesn't want to be married to Beau, her high school sweetheart, because she can't stop thinking about Jesse - her secret high school fling, who turned out to be a criminal. She also knows she can't keep hiding the fact that she can't knit a stitch, though she keeps up the illusion by leading The Sweetheart's Knitting Club and moving ahead with her plans to open Lynn's Yarn Shop in honor of her late mother.
When Beau finally gets her to say yes, Flynn figures she'll eventually be happy about it. But then Jesse gets out of jail early and Flynn's life is thrown into upheaval. Jesse's been dreaming of Flynn for the last 10 years he spent in jail for a crime he didn't commit, only to find out that now that he's a free man, Flynn is taken -- by Jesse's mortal enemy, Sheriff Beau Trainer, who is anything but the fine upstanding citizen he portrays himself to be. I loved Flynn and Jesse's story! All the characters were so real, with real conflicts and motivating factors that made their actions realistic. Jesse and Flynn's attraction was hot, but deep, and provided many feel-good (as well as super sexy!) moments throughout the book. The secondary characters are lively and fun and I can't wait to visit them again in the second book in the series. Wilde captured small town life and the memory of first love very well and makes the reader really root for Flynn and Jesse though they have a lot against them. Wilde for the win!!

I have enjoyed Lori Wilde's books for a long time, but this series really shines. The first book, the Knitting Club, is probably my favorite so far -- loved it, loved it, loved it -- but the others have been very good, satisfying reads as well. You can't miss if you buy them all, look for more, and go check out her backlist as well.

What a wonderful book. It has it all. Love triangle, sexy bad boy, conflicted heroine, a villain who needs redeeming and lots of warm humor. Loved it.

I don't normally read romances, but this book practically fell into my lap and I must say that once I started reading, I couldn't stop. I found the story and the characters compelling, and the writing quite good. It's predictable, but I guess that comes with the genre. All in all, surprisingly good.

I have enjoyed Lori's books since I found her several years ago. However, I think this is the best one yet. Sweethearts Knitting Club is fantastic. It makes you wish for that Jesse and Flynn can get together. I couldn't put the book down. It was a great read. I wish the second book was already out. If you haven't read one of Lori's books, this is where you should start. She is a great author with a lot of heart. It comes through in her writing.
