Good Tires, June 14, 2010
This review is from: Sweetskinz Semi-Slick Mountain Bike Tire (26 x 1.95) (Sports)
I ride at night on my way to work. I wanted something that would make me more noticable to drivers at night. I also wanted a more road friendly tire so I got the slicks.
I ordered the nightwings and they are bright. During the day people point, ask me questions about them, and comment in passing. They refelct. Very surprizingly well too. I did the whole turn my car lights on them at night. The grey areas and part of the black are the reflective.
It does not flake off. I tried. I have been using these tires for several summers now in all sorts of weather. I only had one flat and it was a faulty seam on my tube not the tire. The website claims that because of their rubber compound's nature they are fairly puncture proof. I will need to agree, since when not commuting I am using the trails. Before these tires I would have a few holes to patch. They also seem to repel oil and black top. I thought for sure they would fade then become black but that has not been the case, and with as much as I ride very refreshing.
They have a flat tread style perfect for commuting and a nice edge with a small knob pattern. They work great in gravel, mud, cement, roads, and water (no noticable hydroplaning). I use them on downhill trails in the summer without complaint. I suppose if I was less lazy I would switch out for knobbies, but since this is a everyday rider I just keep them on.
I have noticed one thing. Nothing yet to worry about. The rubber, the light blue areas, appear to developing cracks. Almost like what happens when you leave your bike exposed to the elements, which here is not the case, in fact those tires get rotated off in the winter in favor of snow tires, so I am unsure what that is all about. I know that they (the cracks) are indeed harmless.
They are a bit heavier than other tires of the same size and harder too. Not very noticable though unless you compare head to head with other tires.
I posted a photo of my bike with the tires. I bought them three and a half years ago.

Weighing the benefits., October 2, 2009

(For the Hazarea model) I live in the suburbs of Atlanta and traffic is ridiculous between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. We have bike lanes on some roads but I'm not brave enough to risk my life on them during those hours. Therefore, I do my riding after 7 p.m. and before 7 a.m. This tire seems to offer safety for riders like me who ride at dusk, dawn, and night since it has so much reflectivity. And, it offers a unique look.
However, it is heavy. I ride a hardtail mountain bike with slicks and I used this tire to replace a Kenda Kozmik Lite 395 in front. I can actually feel the difference when picking up the front of the bike - it is that heavy. But, with the safety and the looks, I can live with it. I'd recommend this unique and eye-catching tire to anyone else who has similar needs.

Sweetskinz Hazarea tires, March 21, 2010

These tires looked so cool online, and what an idea to have reflective qualities. So I ordered two. The reflective surface is nothing more than a powdery substance that was flaking off, as I removed them from the shipping box. It easily scratched off with little effort using my fingernail! None of it would have even lasted tire mounting, or it's first wash! I examined the quality of rubber and it looked like poor-quality (like tires from India, or other third-world origins). I folded the them up, and placed them back in the original container to ship back. After mailing both back to Overstock, the idiots there only credited by back for one tire (perhaps they couldn't count to two?). Amazing. Do not place these crappy tires on your bike. Purchase two of the very fine tires available for the same money, made my several good manufacturers, like Schwinn, Kenda, Michelin, etc...This is why here is never a lack of work for consumer attorneys, who can litigate so many things out there, designed and produced by boneheads, who don't know the difference. Hurrah for our consumer advocate attorneys, like myself,New Cruiser 26" x 2.125" Hazarea Bicycle Tire who, without them, life would have even more unreliable, and unsafe products ripping us off.
