5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent historical romance set in 1884 Wyoming Territory
Wow! This was one excellent story! I loved every word of it, and was thrilled to discover it was the story of the wonderful twins, Trellis and Travor, first introduced in Midnight Blue by Dorothy Garlock. Pack and Shannon Mara Gallagher are mentioned throughout the book, and my only complaint is that we didn't get to read about their arrival at the end - since we knew...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, Not great
I am a big fan of Mrs. Garlock. I read Midnight Blue and can say, it's one of the best. I was a little dissapointed with this book. The story initially was about Trell, but soon became about Trevor. This story failed to keep my interest, but I loved the characters.

As another reader put it, I would like to see something about Cassandra.

Wow! This was one excellent story! I loved every word of it, and was thrilled to discover it was the story of the wonderful twins, Trellis and Travor, first introduced in Midnight Blue by Dorothy Garlock. Pack and Shannon Mara Gallagher are mentioned throughout the book, and my only complaint is that we didn't get to read about their arrival at the end - since we knew they were on their way to meet the twins' new wives! After reading some of these reviews, I wondered if this book would be as good as the other books I've read of Ms. Garlock's... it was as good or better than any of them that I've read!! The arrival of Travor, Trell's twin, did not arrive as corny as another reviewer mentioned... he arrived before Jenny and Trell spoke their love for each other. This was an excellent book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance, Adventure, Indians, Unusual, October 12, 2007
This review is from: Sweetwater (Mass Market Paperback)
I like this book very much because of the unusual story line which still involves romance. It's a story about Jenny, who rescues her younger sisters from abuse from her older sister and brother-in-law, moves out west to teach at an Indian school that had a crooked Indian Agent in charge. It's about getting settled in a new place, accepting help from others, helping others and finding romance. I think this is one of Garlock's best!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved It!, August 17, 2000

I just finished this book and loved it...all the different charactors kept the book interesting I couldn't put it down. The ending was a little disappointing, but the rest of the story made up for it. I hope that there is a book to follow about Cassandra and Whit.

3.0 out of 5 stars disappointing, April 18, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Sweetwater (Mass Market Paperback)
I really thought this book was just okay. It started out to be very good but then got to be boring. At first the story seemed to be about Jenny and Trell. Later Trell was a very small part. Travis seemed to take over. There was a lot going on, but it just stopped being interesting. I would like to read about Cassandra or Dillon. I liked Larkspur very much and was a little disappointed with this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only the 3rd D. Garlock novel I`ve read. Loved it!, July 22, 1998

This review is from: Sweetwater (Mass Market Paperback)
I just completed reading this book. I had a difficult time putting it down. I enjoyed all the characters, however, even though Jenny and Trell were suppose to be the main characters, I found Travor and Colleen to be the much stronger characters. I liked Jenny`s fiestiness and enjoyed Cassandra`s verbal quips but wished a little more "omph" for Trell, who I found to be more in the background or in the shadow of Travor. I love the way characters from previous books find thier way back and was glad to see Dillon Tallman "mosey" his way into this book. I hope in the future there will be a bigger story line for him and maybe, a lady love? I`m going out tomorrow to find me another Dorothy Garlock book!! I`m hooked!

I love this book. It was funny, touching and heartwarming. It also has excitement and danger mixed in. This book shows that women, if they have enough determination and grit, can survive anything.

I fell in love with the twins in "Midnight Blue" when they were teenagers. I'm glad they got a story of their own. I enjoyed all the different storylines in the book. I do hope there will be another book about Cassandra or Whit.

5.0 out of 5 stars A winner by anyone's standards, January 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Sweetwater (Mass Market Paperback)
In 1884, Virginia "Jenny" Hepperly leaves her teaching job to return to her hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania based on a pleading letter from the family cook. Jenny's deceased father had placed guardianship of his two youngest daughters (nine year old Cassandra and four year old Beatrice) in the hands of Charles Ransome, his son-in-law and Charles' wife, Margaret (Jenny's sister). Charles is a religious fanatic, who physically and mentally abuses the children under the guise of piously raising them. Jenny kidnaps her two younger siblings and heads to the Wyoming Territory where she can not be expedited back to the states.

Jenny begins to teach at the local Indian school. The Indian agent wants her to leave because of the nature of a will that will allow either the teacher to inherit a large spread if she stays or place the land up for auction (below market rates). Jenny also meets and falls in love with Trell McCall, a kind local rancher. However, before they can explore the direction and endurance of their relationship, they must survive all the machinations of the Indian agent, who will do anything to force Jenny off the land.

Readers will enjoy this western romance due to the depth and inner strength to all the good guys (and gals). Fans of the sub-genre will especially fall in love with Jenny's sibling, Cass, who will hook the audience to the point that they will clamor for her story. Dorothy Garlock fans will definitely enjoy this entertaining work from one of the grand dames of romantic fiction.
