5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!!!! Love it!!, September 11, 2007
This review is from: Swept Away (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a true page turner. The book grabs you from page one with Julia's attempt to kidnap Deverell and I truly could not put it down once I had started.

Julia and Deverell are two very likeable characters. The sexual tension that they shared was very strong and very believable. Julia is unable to resist Deverell even though she believes (wrongly) that he was the cause of her brother's death. It was also interesting to see the development of the secondary romance.

The characters were all very well developed. Some of the dialogue will have you laughing out loud.

Overall the book is very well written and if you have never read Ms. Camp's works, you need to give her a try. You will definitely enjoy it.

Real "Moi" (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Swept Away (Mass Market Paperback)
this is not my first Camp book and again i enjoyed it. It was different from the series, The Lost Heirs Series, but in a good way. the premise of the book was different, which is usually a hit or miss with most people. For me at least I thought it was a hit.

The heroine, Julia, is a flame-haired lady that has scandal attached to her name. It starts when her brother, Selby, was accused of embezzlement by another trustee member and friend, the hero, Lord Deverel Stonehaven. She believes that he wrongly accused her brother that ultimately led to his death. Julia sets out to find out the truth by seducing Deverel to say the truth. the plot takes an interesting twist that ultimately forces them to marry.

I thought, the plot, characters and interactions were well written but with all books there were some flaws. I thought Deverel was so sure of the proof he had against Selby and didn't believe Julia most of the time. Julia was a strong character, but i think that some of her reasoning for thinking her brother was innocent were not written well. But i loved the secondary characters, Phoebe, Cousin Geffory, and Gilbert. It added some laughter to a serious but loving book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Romance and Entertaining Story, July 30, 2010

I will keep this one. Very strong attraction between Dev & Julia. Both are very likable. She is beautiful, smart, witty, and virginal with a spirited personality. He is handsome, strong, witty and honorable. Enjoyed the kidnappings and laughed at the scene when he visits her house, not knowing her alter identity. The story is entertaining and interesting. The characters are well developed. There is only mild tension from the "evil-doers". (I dislike stories that make you feel nervous tension or dread. If they must, I like for it to be short-lived and resolved quickly.) I really liked this book and recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun read, December 2, 2011

I wavered between a 4 or 5 star rating. This author can be relied upon to write stories with humourous situations that make you smile, without feeling embarrassed for the character. In this book, quiet-living but feisty Julia has created a temporary second identity for herself - as a seductress - to get a confession of fraud from a confused but passionate 'enemy'. It's a fun read and the two stars (plus a cousin) are likeable.

I always enjoy Camps historical romances. They are a fast easy read to loose myself in for about 8 hours or less. I purchase all my books to re-read every 2 or 3 years. They are fresh again to me. Sometimes I switch to other types of romances to get away from the the English Regency period but I return.
