5.0 out of 5 stars effective & easy to use
Pros:
1) You can use the dry dust cloths -OR- the wet cleansing cloths with this broom / mop.
2) The mop head pivots 180 degrees, allowing you to get under objects like your couch, and also for easy storage
3) The dust cloths pick up EVERYTHING, including dust you couldn't even see.
4) The cloths are easy to attach and detach and stay firmly attached...

3.0 out of 5 stars Buy swifter but not their wet or dry pads; use with microfiber pads
I move to a 1000 sq ft apatment with almost all white tiles and it was so difficult to clean. I needed something and thought the swiffer would help. Their wet pads just pushed dirt all over, left dirt lines and didn't even clean around the grout lines even though I went through the area first with the dry pads for dirt. I would go through ~10 wet pads to "clean" my floors...

I would go through ~10 wet pads to "clean" my floors plus I would then have to go over the entire floor with my mircofiber towels. That did the job so I thought if I can replace their pads with a microfiber pads, it might work so I went on Amazon and found a microfiber cleaning pad, Tersano cleaning cloths and they fit the Swiffer head. It works!!! I don't have to continuously buy their chemical pads to fill our landfills. The Tersano cloth pads are washable and because it thicker and absorbent, it cleans much better and doesn't deposit dirt in the floor grouts. The investment in the Tersano pads was ~$6.00 and the original Swiffer starter kit was ~$11; not bad considering a typical sponge mop is ~$18 and are horrible on tile. Buy the Swiffer but don't waste money or time with their wet or dry pads.

5.0 out of 5 stars effective & easy to use, January 1, 2004

4) The cloths are easy to attach and detach and stay firmly attached while in use.
5) Nice price for a nice product (that dusts AND mops your floor, I might add).

Cons:
1) Both the dry and wet cloths are only semi-effective on gritty or rough surfaces. Example: in the winter, my front hall gets messy with sand and grit from the front sidewalk - it needs to be swept before I mop, or the Swiffer ends up scraping all that junk across my tiles. Not really a con per se, as long as you're aware of it in advance.

Swiffer products have made a big difference in the amount of time it takes me to dust my house and the effectiveness of the job I do. Like the other reviewer, we have pets, and we need to dust and de-fur our home more often than other people do. Being able to do it quickly, effectively and easily is important. This product enables me to do just that.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great concept, extremely poor quality, November 28, 2008
This review is from: Swiffer Sweeper 2 in 1 Mop and Broom Floor Cleaner Starter Kit (Health and Beauty)
If the swiffer sweeper didn't break every three to four months, I'd give it FIVE stars. If it lasted a year, I'd give it FIVE stars. But for some reason P&G doesn't see the need to make a sweeper that is sturdy. Come on P&G, we're already buying the wet pads and the dry pads already. Why do you think we need to be replacing the sweeper itself every few months?

Not impressed and am hoping to find a similar product that doesn't break at the slightest pressure.

If anyone can steer me in the right direction, please let me know what you are using. If P&G is not careful, the Swiffer market is going to dry up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swiffer great for pet hair and dust, December 3, 2003
By A Customer
It takes just seconds to run the swiffer down the hall and around the kitchen floor and it picks up all the dog and cat hair that seems to accumulate every day - also all the household dust. For crumbs and bigger stuff, I use it like a broom to collect it all in one place and then push it into a dust pan. Also have a Swiffer Wet Jet which makes keeping the floor clean so simple - perfect for dirty dog prints. Even my kids clean the floor now.

Goodbye old mop? Maybe if the designers of this product had really tested it at all. See that green portion near the end of the handle? It's acrylic plastic - well known in the industry as a brittle, but cheap material. I'd be impressed if anyone has one more than a few months old - mine lasted 6 uses in a small appartment before that green section gave way. Not impressed.

1.0 out of 5 stars waste of money, July 20, 2008
I bought this for an occassional quick clean up about a year ago. The top of the handle broke off/fell off almost immediately, and I decided to keep on using it, even though it was kind of too short for my height. I have small kitchen (approx. 12x12) with a tile floor and it has been impossible to wash the floor using only one wet cloth. It starts off great for maybe 1/3 of the floor and then the cloth is nearly dry, so unless I replace the pad, the rest of the floor is semi-clean. I tried reversing the pad without much success. I have to really exert pressure on the Swiffer if I want to clean a dirty spot. And the most baffling thing of all is that when I "wash" the floor with it, just a day or two later, the floor is DIRTY beyond belief, it is like it leaves some residue that I can't really see that attracts dirt. This never happens when I clean with mop and bucket. I gave it 1 star because it is a great concept, a lot faster and easier than filling a bucket and lugging the mop and the bucket and so on...but is very poorly executed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Swiffer not so good, November 6, 2006
I bought one of these things hoping that it would make for quick clean ups around the kitchen but all it does is push dirt all around the floor making messy dirt lines. I would prefer to give the swiffer 1 and a half stars as it does pick up hair but that is about it. It fills up pretty quick meaning you have to change it out alot which means throwing money away all the time on those dry and wet refills. After wasting time and energy pushing hair and dirt around I could have used an old fashioned broom to sweep the kitchen up more neatly the first time. I learned my lesson there is no easy way to clean up so I won't buy any more hoky products claiming to help make life a little easier.

1.0 out of 5 stars Breaks every 3 months., November 10, 2009
This review is from: Swiffer Sweeper 2 in 1 Mop and Broom Floor Cleaner Starter Kit (Health and Beauty)
Swiffer is very poorly built. As if they made it to last up to 3 months. Top handle breaks off so easy. It is made with poor quality plastic and it is very thin where it connects to metal rod. Once floor is cleaned there is some sort of thin residue that attracts dirt and makes hardwood dull. Considering quality and effectiveness this product should be rated 0. Have "experts" at P&G ever tried to use this product themselves?
I will not be buying any more of these useless toy products.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for hardwood floors!, July 6, 2003
I live with two dogs and a cat, all of which shed like mad. Before finding the Swiffer, I had to lug the vacuum around and use the extension to suck all the fur off of my hardwood floors - and that didn't even pick up most of the hair. Now, I use the Swiffer twice a week and my floors are hair-free. Granted, the pads tend to fill with hair quickly, and I end up going through two each time I clean the house. To extend their life, I pick large clumps of hair off the pad as I go and use both sides of each pad as well. They're also great for dusting (no cleaning solutions required), and sometimes I'll use the pads for light dusting and then clean the floors with them. The Swiffer is great for cleaning those hard-to-reach places, too - especially under the bed. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it's not quite as good picking up dirt - it can tend to just push the dirt around. But overall, it's certainly better than using a broom!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product!, April 9, 2004

At first I was suspicious about the claims of this product but after using it on wood floors I was convinced that it is a great way to keep a floor clean.
No chemicals are needed.

We have a golden retriever that sheds at least a cup of hair a day. The Swiffer is excellent for getting up this hair as well as the dirt that the kids track in.

Try it and see.
