I have been using my swiftpoint mouse for a few weeks and have come to rely on it.

I was originally excited to have it for art/design. I thought it would help me avoid getting an aching hand or RSI when from my laptop touchpad using design programmes like Photoshop and Final Cut, that require a lot of mouse/touchpad action. Also, I hoped that it would be a more convenient solution when setting up and adjusting a video as part of an art installation using a mac mini and projector - sometimes the mac mini has been mounted in hard-to-access places, and I have had trouble using conventional mouses or even a mac bluetooth mouse. The swiftpoint has proved fantastic for these applications, and my hand no longer aches, even after a few hours of editing images/video. It has become so fast and intuitive using the swiftpoint that I now get frustrated when I have to use someone else's computer who doesnt have one.

But one unexpected major plus: I am a new mum, and during hours of feeding, I had been watching videos etc on my laptop. Before having the swiftpoint, I was always awkwardly juggling baby and laptop when trying to reach to stop/start/change volume etc etc. Now, I can keep my laptop at a good viewing distance away on the coffee table, and adjust everything using the swiftpoint, just rolling it on the couch arm. This is probably its best feature and most common use right now!

ps
The only change I would like to make is not actually to the swiftpoint, but to my macbook pro, which stupidly has its two usb ports very close together on one side of the computer, so that it is difficult to use more than one usb device at a time, since most devices (even usb keys) cover access to the second usb port. Since I now want to leave my swiftpoint connected all the time, I hope that Apple will rectify this in the next design update to the macbook pro.

I'm really surprised and impressed with this little thing. Even though I saw a credible review by ComputerShopper, I was skeptical at first. No user reviews yet, I can't find it in Best Buy to test it out... In any case, I thought I would give it a try and return if I don't like it. Funny enough, I'm bonded to this thing like my iPhone. The other day, I realized people were staring at this thing when I was at Peet's. =)

I've been a solid Logitech mouse user, but Swiftpoint replaced my Logitech laser after I got used to it - it took roughly two days. I'm now a believer of this mouse. The smallest I've ever used, it doesn't take much space in my bag. I started using it everywhere (haven't used on glass yet). What I like the most is its comfort. My wrist gets tired being in front of my computer 12hrs+ a day. So, I've started using this one in my home office as well. The only down side is that it didn't come with a bag so I started using an old sunglass bag. On the positive side, finally someone has discovered that software is not needed even for a wireless mouse! No need for a reset or pair buttons either. It simply works... well done Swiftpoint!

I have to admit it was a great concept. When it worked the mouse was fairly ergonomic, portable, and had some unique features.

But... none of that maters because it stopped working after a few weeks. Same problem as other reviewer - the USB receiver just stopped working. My computer doesn't recognize the mouse. I can't get it to pair. None of the support pages or FAQs can help. It's just poor quality.

UPDATE - After talking with Swiftpoint, they have sent me two new USB receivers. Extra points for great customer service. Still, I have seen people have the same issue and the fact they sent me 2 new receivers (instead of one) makes me think I will be going through them like water. I will update after a month to see if the new receivers last and my issue was a fluke.

Second UPDATE

It has now been several weeks since my replacement receiver and the mouse works great. Must have been a fluke as promised. I can now gladly recommend the mouse with confidence. The features are great, the mouse is ergonomic and serves me well through all of my classes and homework on my laptop. Most of all, it's super portable and can fit in your pocket if need be. Great mouse and company has the customer service to back it up.

I'm a writer and use a HP mini netbook. The best thing about it is, I can throw it in my handbag and go. But most wireless mouses (mice?) are as big as a house. I've been buying the small ones that connect with a wire, but I've gone through 4 of them in 7 months. So, I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy the Swftpoint. Oh my gosh, I love it! I have small hands and it fits perfectly and is so light. It glides like a dream.

Huzzah! The new Swiftpoint GT is arriving in December. I have loved my original Swiftpoint 300 for just over 2 years. The quick charge and ergonomic feel are my favorite features

I am giving this mouse four stars because despite my complaints about it, they have nothing to do with how much I love the actual mouse and using it.

PROs:
It is very easy to learn to use. I was using it proficiently within 10 minutes of hooking it up.

It is comfortable - I really like the ergonomics and feel of the mouse.

It is very compact and works well with the provided adhesive "mousepad" that attaches to the right portion of a laptop handrest.

CONs:
Too expensive. The price point on this mouse should be around $30 max.

Needs a carrying case. You cannot leave the charging dock in the USB port as it is apt to break (learned first hand) and you can't leave the mouse sitting on it and carry it around. I'm OK with not being able to do that, but it needs a carrying case, because the two pieces go together via a magnet. When you put it in a laptop bag compartment, they come apart and you have to dig around to find the USB charging fob. Also the fob is magnetized and will attach itself to other metal objects when it detaches from the mouse.
