This is the only float that worked for my 17 month old son. It keeps his head about water and it's the only kind he will keep on. I have suggested to everyone we know with small children to try this one!

I tried several of the swim "suits" that help smaller children stay afloat. Some may be better preperation for swimming, but this one is the best for safety. The pressurized ring keeps the child's face out of the water with minimal to no effort on their part. Other rings or "suits" tip your child forward and dip their face in the water unless the child is very strong. At the same time with this ring they can kick and direct themselves all over the pool. You MIGHT find this item in your local store but they are always sold out in mine. I have one for my 4 year old but I need a second for my just turned 2 year old, so I'm thrilled to find it here!

Of course, no matter how safe an item, you still can't even turn your back on a child in a swimming pool.

We had one of these for our son starting when he was 17 months. He was/is a very tall boy, so he fit in it well before the age of 2. We tried numerous products before we found this product. None of them fit as well or worked as well. Kids CANNOT fall out of this. Toddlers need help getting it over their heads or stepping into it, and in taking it off. In the swim sweater, our toddler was able to kick and move around the pool, get more on his belly and pull with his hands, and feel safe and comfortable in the water. I highly recommend it.

Our oldest son is 8 now and a great swimmer. I'm here to buy another for our 16 month old. Buy it, you won't regret it!

The Swim Sweater is a terrific product. My 4 year old loves it and for the first time she's not afraid to try swimming. It fits her slender build perfectly. The sweater is adjustable by inflating the tire with more or less air. I do not fear her slipping through. And as everyone knows, children should never be unsupervised in the water.

My husband and I used this "swim sweater" this summer for our 3 1/2 year old and our 2 year old. It did NOT, as another reviewer feared, fall off, as you might expect by looking at the picture. (I believe the natural instinct of children is to hold on to the ring around their waist--not to raise their arms, without anything supporting their weight--think about it.)

My son, who was afraid to "let go" of the wall of the pool under any other circumstances, felt so comfortable and safe while wearing the sweater that he wanted to let go of ME after only 5 minutes! And my daughter, who was just shy of 2, amazed us by floating around the pool without a care, by herself, while wearing the swim sweater.

I would recommend this item to anyone who has already tried other so-called "floatees"--this one is it.

I'm online trying to find our FOURTH one! They are so popular that everyone who brings their kids over to swim wants to try it. And there's no way anyone could fall out while using it...my daughter has been using hers for two years, and she's 3 1/2 now. We have to help her with putting it on and taking it off. It's the best thing I've found to allow her to swim independently and safely.

I have tried plenty of floating devices for my 2 1/2 year old son. he loves to be in the water and hates for us to be holding him all the time. I was a little scared to try this, thinking it would end up with the rest of the floaties we have tried. but once I got him in the pool, he let go of my hand and swam to the other side of the pool. I felt comfortable letting him explore on his own (while being at arms reach) and he actually paddled and kicked. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting something safe for thier children.

I really like this, however, if your child gets bored you have to keep an eye on them, because they can just slip right out of it. My daugther is disabled and after a while she got tired in it and would slump down and she could have slipped right out of it if I wasn't watching.

I purchased this 30 years ago for my daughter who was 3 at the time. The swim sweater only came in a bright orange, but it was the best investment I ever made. We were away on vacation and I had a newborn son. My husband and I were getting him situated by the pool when we noticed my daughter was gone we found her on the high dive with a line of about 20 kids on the ladder behind her. My husband jumped into the pool and told her just jump....she did with her swim sweater on went under the water and right back up. Now she is the mother of triplets and I just purchased 3 swim sweaters for her triplets. I just opened them up and I hope they are the same quality that hers was 30 years ago. One thing is for sure they are much cheaper now then they were 30 years ago! Remember it is not a true life vest but it sure beats any arm swimmies or a regular tube. I think these are great as a precautionary measure for children around deep pools or lakes under a watchful eye of an adult.

Although I make the mistake of trying to get it over my granddaughter's head, it is pretty easy to get on when she steps into it. No guidance was given on the box.

The box says 2-6 years, but my granddaughter is three and I can't see her making use of it even next year. She's tall but slim and there's not alot of room.

She had a ball in it, but it can tip over, especially of they lean back too far, so it an adult needs to be close by regardless.
