5.0 out of 5 stars works like a champ - even in a kiddie pool
We have a 2000 gallon 12' x 36" above-ground Intex pool that has a very modest filter and pump. The pump is rated at just 530 gallons/hour and .7 Amps so its maybe only 1/10 HP compared to 1/2 to 2 HP on a full size pool.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works fairly well
It does a great job in the shallow end of our pool. It really catches everything in it's general area, but for larger pools it falls a little short. Either way it cuts my skimming down :) so that's great!

We have a 2000 gallon 12' x 36" above-ground Intex pool that has a very modest filter and pump. The pump is rated at just 530 gallons/hour and .7 Amps so its maybe only 1/10 HP compared to 1/2 to 2 HP on a full size pool.
Out of the box, the skimmer worked OK with our tiny pump but was much more effective when I restricted the water nozzle with my fingers and increased the water velocity through the skimmer venturi. I couldn't find anything around the house to stuff into the water nozzle, but a 1/2" PVC Cap with two wraps of duct tape fits nicely. I drilled a 3/8" hole in the cap and stuffed it into the pool devil's exit nozzle. Instant and dramatic improvement for $.68. Now it skims like it would on a real pool with a much more powerful pump. In fact, it skims so well that our floating thermometer ends up in the pool devil's mouth.
Kudos to Unique Gifts for prompt shipping.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clever, simple, effective!, June 6, 2008

I wish I'd designed it! Combined with the Kreepy Krauley (which is 15 years old and counting!), it does an amazing job of keeping my pool junk free and crystal clear. My pool is located under Juniper trees (called Cedar here in Central Texas), and there is a lot of leaf chaff that blows in more or less, constantly. Also oak leaves, bugs and all manner of airborne bits. Feathers, even.

It attaches to a return (there are 2 adapters included - it is possible that these will not fit all pool return line couplings), and it is simply a matter of unscrewing the 'eye', and screwing in (or on, depends on your return) the adapter, putting on the hose and voila! Ready to go.

I bought a second one as a gift for my sister-in-law whose pool could use this nifty leaf collector!

It is so simple, that if you can't figure out how to get it hooked up, then you shouldn't be allowed out alone. ;->

I was a little worried about buying this product but it works great, just as described in the advertisment.Wish I had purchased it sooner. Works just like another skimmer. Well worth the price.

I have a 18x36 sized pool with a lot of purple plum trees in my landscape, therfore there are a lot of tiny leaves in my pool. We were conidering cutting down our beutiful trees because the leaves fall off all summer there are thousands of them.... Pool Devil has done a great job skimming these leaves in addition to the 2 regular skimmers on my pool. I hardly have to use my skimmer net, which seemed like an endless chore before I started using Pool Devil.

Pool Devil was easy to hook up (I did it myself, actually surprising since I usually end up calling my pool guy), and with a little adjusting I got this incredible suction that causes these waves throughout my pool that clean the ENTIRE surface!
So I have pool devil on top and my Polaris cleaning on the bottom of the pool which after initial cleaning my pool runs almost care free all season long.

IT's inexpensive enough compared with other pool products, I would give it a try, I'm so glad I did.

I watched the online video and read the reviews - but this product doesn't work. Leaves flow around it, even when I put one leave around the middle, it just flew out. I adjusted the pressure of the water coming out but that didn't help either. tried multiple things over a few days........Nothing worked.

Total waste of money and time. Talked to my pool store, and they said yes, their is no good product for skimming stuff off the top of the pool, otherwise they'd sell it.

This product is great! We were a little skeptical at first but once we hooked it up and let it run for about 30 minutes our pool was clean! Our skimmer baskets aren't overflowing with flowers petals anymore! The Pool Devil catches any debris before it has time to make it to the bottom. Our pool has looked GREAT ever since we bought this! Best $15 we ever spent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile Investment, May 8, 2008

This is a really economical and easy way to trap those peskly little things that blow into your pool if you are unlucky enough (like me) to have a pool that is not in a screened enclosure. Although I had to modify the way the hose attached to the hole in the pool where water is expelled (because the pool was built in the 1980s and the adapters included didn't work), the skimmer still works beautifully. My only suggestion to the manufacturer would be to put a short piece of flexible hose that can be used in pool outlets that are not compatible with the adapters they provide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pool Devil GREAT for dog hair, November 3, 2010
This review is from: Swimming Pool Devil Dirt Leaf Skimmer
Having TWO Saint Bernard dogs swimming in the pool causes quite a bit of dog hair in the pool and these Pool Devils just suck it up. As another posting mentioned, in a large pool (almost 40 feet long) one is not quite enough when you have an over abundance of debris - so we hooked up TWO of these and yeehaw!!! Sucks up all the dog hair, the leaves, floating bugs, bees, and the nasties off the surface of the pool. We don't have to backwash as much since not as much debris falls to the bottom where the pool cleaner is responsible. Also much nicer when we swim since we now don't get out with dog hair all over us. I recommend these highly, just wish they lasted longer in the Arizona Sun. They only last 1 season here in Arizona and then crack from the harsh UV rays. We don't purchase the replacement socks, just use women's knee high hosery (white) and works great - I get them at Walgreens. Been using the Pool Devil for almost 3 years now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Adapters don't fit for 12 X 30, sock is too fine unless stretched, September 17, 2009

The adapters won't fit for my 12 X 30 Intex pool with the stock pump (which is kind of weak by the way). I had to undo the hose clamp on the outside of the pool where the outflow is and then remove the fitting that Intex gave me, ask my neighbor to cut me off about 4 inches of 3/4" plastic pipe, then I wrapped some clear tape around one end of it a bucnh of times and then shoved it into the pool devils elbow and the other end I put into the outflow hole on the side of the pool and then I re-tightened the hose clamp. I turned it on and honestly it was blowing water into the net/sock and you can see almost all of it is coming right back out as though the net/sock was too fine of a mesh. So I grabbed the sock/net and stretched it out really hard on all sides width wise (not length wise) and then it started working. After that I can see no water flow coming backwards out of the net/sock that it is getting blown into and I could see things floating towards it on the surface and getting blown into the net/sock. The sock probably needs to be less fine (it's about the same as a panty hose mesh but thicker) and I think they should have included an adapter for small 12' pools but for the price I am glad that it is there because i can now see it blowing stuff into the sock but I'm guessing that sock is going to get clogged pretty quick and I will have to clean it off. Also I will be looking for probably a panty hose or something like that in the store that I can cut to twice the length or maybe even a fine fish net stocking, i don't know but this sock seems to fine of a mesh and too short because the water just bounces out unless you stretch the hell out of it sideways. I'm gonna say If I can find the right sock to go on there this will work good.
