Honey Lanning is a professional swim instructor and former Junior Gold Olympics team member who works today with young children. In this step-by-step instructional video, she gives parents advice on teaching their toddlers to swim. With obvious expertise, Lanning covers such important topics as establishing trust, going underwater, developing a good kick, changing direction in the water, and learning to grab the side of the pool. There are many useful tips here--for instance, placing a shiny object on the pool bottom for the child to focus on will help keep his head in the right position. Unfortunately, too much of the video seems like an amateurish infomercial. You'll have to wade through numerous parent testimonies about how Honey helped their children swim. Keep your finger on the fast-forward button to skip these sections, and you may come away with some excellent ideas for safely teaching young children a lifelong love of the water.
