I bought my first one of these for my son when he was about 3 and it has been great. He has special needs and may possibly never totally master independent swimming but with this he can feel very competant and gain skills. He has graduated to the larger size now and my daughter who is 2 used his old one this summer and within just a month or so she was swimming independently. Being able to adjust the amount of needed support is great. You need to watch your child closely to adjust where they need more of the pads (front or back)to stay level. With this the kids have their arms free to really learn how to swim rather then the arm floaties where they just kind of flail their arms in the water.

My son swims like a fish with this device. He had one last year and used it so much I needed a new one this year. He was only 2 when we got the first one and he gained so much confidence in the water that we got him another one. We are gradually removing the pads, and teaching him to use his arms and legs better. I hope that by next year, he wont need it at all. I have friends who have borrowed it and then went out to buy their own. It works better than water wings because my son can use his arms more easily. I totally recommend this toy for anyone who has small children and a pool.

This swim aid gives the child additional buoyancy, but doesn't automatically keep them upright like a life jacket would. Consequently, the first thing the child learns is how to tread water with the aid of a little added buoyancy. This starts them swimming like like you wouldn't believe! Both our boys learned to stay upright and to propel themselves through the water at 20 and 25 months of age. The older son discarded the vest by age 4, then passed the deep water swimming test at our neighborhood pool before his fifth birthday, the youngest child to do so there. I'm convinced it was in large part because of lots of practice with this swim trainer.

This swim vest has given our son (age 3 1/2) a lot of confidence in the water. This is not to say that you still don't have to watch them like a hawk but it does give them some independence from you so you don't get kicked as much as without one. What I like about it is that he is learning to swim while having fun with the rest of the family. We gradually take out pads as needed which is a wonderful feature so he doesn't get dependent on it. He swam with one last year also so he is growing up with them.

This is a GREAT product - everyone i know has one and loves it for their kids! my kids are 4 and 3 and it boosted their confidence level in the water tremendously! it comes recommended by both lifegaurds and swim teachers...you can even (secretly) take out floats inside it as your child progresses. no more having your child cling to you or worrying that at any minute they will go under! in fact, this is the only floating device our town pools allow!

I bought this swim trainer for my 2 year old son. He was afraid of the water when he first got in, but with this trainer he realized that it would keep his face out of the water and he could move around. We both love it! A summer MUST HAVE!!

We just started using this on our 3 1/2 yr. old and she LOVES it! We have 2 older kids that used the standard "bubble type" and this one is so much better. Since it fits on both front and back, it is much more comfortable than the bubbles. It's better then "water wings", too, because there isn't anything squeezing the childs' arms (it also doesn't hinder arm movement like water wings do). Definately get one!

I have trained two children with "swimmie". They build confidence and have a wonderful time in the pool without being scared. My two children are very good swimmers because of this trainer.

This is the best swim aid device for your toddler! They can easily paddle around the pool without going under. Much better than the other one piece swim devices!

This is a terrific product. Keeps the child perfectly boyant while allowing free movement of arms and legs. Helps build the child's confidence in the water for those who are hesitant and provides a measure of protection for those who are fearless (adult supervision, of course, at all times). It's lightweight, adjustable, easy to store, and durable. We first bought one a few years ago for our son who is now 7 and on his own in the water, and another one for our second son who is now 4 (both started using it at about age 2).
