I bought this float after reading several previous reviews about how well this works for smaller/younger babies. My daughter was 11lbs at 4 mos so I was concerned it would be too big for her.
I did end up having to put a small towel behind her to prop her up above the surface of the water a bit but she loved it just the same. I didn't even bother with the octopus attachment or any of the toys, she was perfectly content laying back and enjoying the water which was the whole point all along.
A word of caution, if you bring this on vacation and expect it to fit back into it's carrying case, you have your work cut out for you. You have to fold it just right for it to get back into it's compact size and it can be a little tricky so my advise would be to practice with it before you go so you're not struggling to get it back in your suitcase.
I look forward to using the float this summer when my daughter's a bit bigger. I have a feeling we'll be making a lot of trips to the lake!

We bought this float 3 summers ago and have really enjoyed it. It has held up well and both kids have really taken to it. In general, I think this is a great product. HOWEVER, we recently put our 26 pound daughter in it for a few minutes and while reaching for a toy in the water, she flipped the float over and was trapped upside down under water. I was standing right beside her and righted the float immediately and she was completely unphased, but it was scary to watch and could have been very dangerous if we weren't right there. As with all flotation devices, you MUST carefully monitor your children constantly. I do now question the upper bounds of the suggested weight limit of 28 pounds as I think this largely contributed to the accident she had. I am now in the market for a Coast Guard approved product for her.

I love this float. The very first time I used it, I got so many compliments and my son loves it. He's 4 mos old and 16.5 lbs and fits in it fine. The canopy is easy to use and the snaps on it can be used to dangle his ring-a-links. While we were swimming, he was so comfy in the float, he actually fell asleep reclined back. I'd definitely recommend this product.

This was delivered to me today and I am very pleased with this float toy. My daughter LOVED it. She was very relaxed and at ease with first experience in our local swimming hole.

I was a little hesitant as my daughter is on the youngest end of the usable scale~18 Weeks and just about 16lbs. I was happily surprised. The mesh seat fit her fine (see submitted photos). Much to my delight the way it fit her she was able to kick back and relax almost as if she was in a floating recliner. As we became more secure and comfortable we played with her positioning and I found WITH EXTREMELY CLOSE SUPERVISION she was able to lay more forward on her chest resting on the "hump" in the front to get more of a "swim" feeling. I have not yet used the octopus toy as I wanted to make sure there was nothing to obscure my view or reach of her on our initial use.

I loved the canopy too. It was perfect. I had her dressed in a full one piece UV Protective swimsuit from Coolibar (Highly Recommended) but I was still very conscious of the exposure and vulnerability of her head, feet and hands.

I would also like to give kudos to Amazon for the amazingly fast shipping. I ordered this yesterday afternoon about 4pm with the Amazon Prime 2day shipping and it was at my door by 3:10 today.

Okay, forget the "activity center"....that thing just gets in the way of interacting with the child. Throw away the sponge-like floating toys that come with the activity center....they just get pieces bitten off by the child. Now, enjoy the floating ring, put the shade on and pop the kid inside. Fun, fun, fun. You can spin her/him, take trips around the pool - zoom, zoom - and have both arms free to wipe away the water drips and drops as others splash around. A big hit at our house. I'm just sorry the visit was so short and our 11-month-old granddaughter had to go back home.

We traveled internationally with our then 5-month-old and took this float with us. It packs up and fits into a suitcase very easily and takes up little space since it's pretty flat and light. It was so fun for all of us in the pool: baby can relax and splash around, while protected from the sun; parents can also relax instead of having to hold baby up in the water the whole time. I would definitely recommend this for any parents that plan to have their baby in the water when they are young and can't yet float on their own.

I really wanted to find a float for my almost 4 mo old grandson and l bet I looked at a million of them before finally choosing this one. I was worried because most of these baby float things start at 9 mos and he is only 4 mos. But I must tell you, he absolutely LOVES this. He is just as happy as a clam in it and it's mesh seat is very comfortable. Of course you have to stand right there with your baby the whole time they're in the water but you're going to do that anyway. He thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread and cooed and squealed the whole time! It's a great way to get your baby acquainted with the water and have him feel safe and secure. My big boy is a tank so he has the weight and girth to make this work for him but if you have a skinny, tiny or lightweight baby, he or she may not sit as securely in it. The canopy adds a nice shade to protect his bald head from the sun. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to take their infant in the pool and have him be protected from the hot sun. Just keep them in the shallow end and kind of hold onto it but anyone with a brain is going to watch an infant in a pool like a hawk anyway. This is great!
