5.0 out of 5 stars Fun in the pool, in the shade!
Okay, forget the "activity center"....that thing just gets in the way of interacting with the child. Throw away the sponge-like floating toys that come with the activity center....they just get pieces bitten off by the child. Now, enjoy the floating ring, put the shade on and pop the kid inside. Fun, fun, fun. You can spin her/him, take trips around the pool - zoom, zoom...

3.0 out of 5 stars Encountered a few problems with this...
None of the other reviewers seemed to have sizing issues, but I did. We took this on a trip to disney (I liked the fact that these spring floats fold really small when deflated for travel/packing) when baby was 7 months. The mesh seat was so deep, and the opening so large that it just swallowed him. The water level was bobbing over his shoulders.
I put it away...

Fun, fun, fun. You can spin her/him, take trips around the pool - zoom, zoom - and have both arms free to wipe away the water drips and drops as others splash around. A big hit at our house. I'm just sorry the visit was so short and our 11-month-old granddaughter had to go back home.

I love this float. The very first time I used it, I got so many compliments and my son loves it. He's 4 mos old and 16.5 lbs and fits in it fine. The canopy is easy to use and the snaps on it can be used to dangle his ring-a-links. While we were swimming, he was so comfy in the float, he actually fell asleep reclined back. I'd definitely recommend this product.

My 5 1/2 month old baby is very fair skinned. This product was perfect for "swimming" in Grandma's pool. There are two snaps on either side of the toy so that the canopy can be adjusted to the direction of the sunlight.
The attached toys make this toy a lot more interesting than the $14.99 version sold at a big box retailer.

I put it away and tried again now that baby is a month older and it's still too big. He's average in size and weight. Also, the valve stems pop open on the outer ring constantly causing a loss of air. Since it's barely keeping my baby above water fully inflated, this thing is basically useless. I wish they still made the heavy duty plastic/styrofoam dolphin and airplane floats. Swimways, are you listening? Those things were great!
I had a version by this same manufacturer that I used for my daughter who is now 4, so I really wasn't expecting these issues. At any rate, the one for my daughter was round vs. this one which is oblong, and the seat was not as deep on the older one. I really wanted one with a canopy to keep baby out of the sun but this one just isn't it, and it certainly isn't worth the price quoted here. If you are going to give this a try, definitely price-shop!

I carefully purchased this product after doing a lot of research on baby pool floats and we are SO glad we chose this one. I don't usually take the time to write reviews for my purchases, but we were just so happy with this product that I wanted to comment on this one for sure. This fit our 16 month old baby just perfectly. She is a little petite for her age (approx 22lbs) so there is still plenty of room for her to grow and still be able to use this float. She was very scared and intimidated by the pool - even when we held her tight. But as soon as we put her in the Swimways Float, she was as comfortable as can be. At first she just laid back and rested her head and almost fell asleep. By the 2nd time we used it, she sat forward more and splashed in the water and was more curious about the toys. We ended up removing the blow up octopus-thing and she enjoyed splashing in the little hole where that toy fit. We were very pleased with how well the shade worked out. Our daughter has very fair skin and needed the protection. We still had her wear a hat, but it wasn't necessary. The shade is adjustable and we found that it worked best when it was pulled back. I highly reccomend this float for babies... especially those between 1 and 2 years old.

5.0 out of 5 stars Baby Swimways, June 25, 2009

[...] This product exceded our expectations!! We actually had it overnighted from the mainland to Maui, Hawaii because we were on vacation and the stores there were sold out. Several people had them for their babies at the pool and we thought this item looked like the perfect floation device for our 10 month old granddaughter. Happily it was.

She was able to walk around on the bottom of the wading pool, explore the small waterfall at one end, and greet other children in the pool on her own. You could tell by the look on her face when she glanced back at us that she felt very independent, and we in turn felt very secure in her safety.

The Baby Swimways is well designed with a mesh seat the holds the baby securely and is weighted so that there is no fear of the device capsizing. The sun sheild over the top is a bonus in sunny weather, as my granddaughter is very fair.

We bought two more in different styles and colors when we got home (one for our pool and one for her other grandparents). And by the way, the easy compact carrying case makes folding the Swimways easy to pack and carry home!! The pricing was incredibly reasonable for this item when you consider the many hours of fun to be had. I can't say enough good things about this product.

Our granddaughter took off standing and walking when she returned home and we think it was largely due to the many hours she spent socializing and navigating the wading pool in Hawaii.

Many Thanks, from a delighted Grandmother

We just used this for my 9 month old son on vacation. He LOVED it! It held him well. He is about 27inches long and weighs 19 pounds. He fit in this perfectly. It kept him above the water and came with toys to entertain him (which he loved)! I actually had another lady approach me and asked where I found this because she loved it and knew her baby girl would love it as well.

We love this item and have recommended it to others.

All in all, GREAT PRODUCT!

Very good in the pool. Baby weights 15 pds (9 mos) and floats very comfortably in the shade of the awning. It's quite big though as a sacrifice. No easy way to deflate or carry around, but found it to be worth it for the shade it provides. Toys that attach to octopus are very appropriate, but you have to watch them or they can get lost. There are three parts to blow up and I had to use the air mattress pump to get it to inflate.

We really loved this float at first. Our little one had a great time being in the water. Then, when she hit 10 months old, she started grabbing on to it and pulling herself forward and up out of the seat. If we didn't stop her she'd pull herself out and end up face down in the water. I still like it better than any other float options at this point, but we have to keep a hand on her to constantly hold her down in the seat.

Bought this to take on trip to Asia for two months. The floaty folds up nicely and is easy to fit into a luggage/lightweight/compact. When it came to blowing it up, you really have to squeeze the port to get air to go into it. Likewise when it came to deflating it which can make your fingers get tired after a while as its hard to roll/squeeze with one hand and hold blow port with another. Seemed to hold air nicely as I didn't have to blow it back up often at all.

Used in a wave pool a couple of times with 10 month old and there was never any fear of it tipping over. The dual chambers offer great stability. The canopy is really nice and can be tied/snapped down on either side. We used this in a lazy river at the water park and everyone loved how simple and cute. Many people offered to buy from us while in Thailand but we politely refused. The dual chambers are joined by mesh material which makes a nice little pocket of water for your kid to splash.

Only complaint/comment we have is it's a little difficult to get your child out once their in. The fishnetting bottom has a tendency to get stuck for a lack of better word to your child. You have to angle them out and hold the floating a little. This can be more difficult if the canopy is directly over your child.
