3.0 out of 5 stars Classic mid-'80s cheeziness, December 16, 2011
This review is from: Swimwear Illustrated On Location [VHS] (VHS Tape)
There are some good-looking women in this video, though most are too skinny for my tastes (i.e. they all look like they do too much blow). I've never heard of 'Swimwear Illustrated' magazine, and it's clearly some kind of low end knock-off of Sports Illustrated's more famous 'Swimsuit' issue. There's a fair amount of 'behind the scenes' footage, about half of which seems to be staged, particularly the meetings between the editor and his head photographer. The latter guy is a classic '80s cheezeball, with a super-gross mullet, a dangly earring and douche-bag tanktop. The editor is no prize either and probably got busted for smuggling coke in his catamaran when his girly mag operation went belly-up. (I hasten to add that I do not know this for a fact, that this is merely what the editor LOOKS like.) The lame-o soundtrack music is incredibly barf-inducing. In other words, this is a primo time-capsule/slice o' life from Miami in the mid-1980s.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magazines Brought To Life, March 7, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Swimwear Illustrated On Location [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you enjoyed these magazines as much as I did in the late 80's, you'll love seeing the models come to life in bikinis on the beach!
