In the end, I built a very good swing set with this (and the EZ brackets, which are a separate item. I really think you need all four of these brackets, and four of the other EZ brackets as well.

The directions advocate building the swing set on its side and then righting it. If, like me, you decided to make the swing set a bit taller than was recommended, this righting process probably won't work. I sank the legs in concrete, and the set is on a very slight incline. The first time I tried to assemble the product, the combination of a very tall structure (the legs were nine feet long to account for a foot and a half to be sunk in the concrete and a seven and a half tall set). This combined with the slight slope of the land resulted in a huge, heavy structure momentarily in freefall. When the thing landed, the stresses popped the heads off the screws and the entire thing went down as I ran for my life.

So I bought everything again and started over. This time, I assembled the "A"s, then attached the cross beam to one, and then climbed a ladder and put the other "A" under it. The Assemble-and-then-Right method may work for a shorter swing set, but I recommend my technique for anything larger.

...this is $25 of painted sheet metal, for crying out loud. And they don't even throw in the carriage bolts to attach it! I know, I know - it's a specialty item, made for the job, works well, pretty much the only option available, but let me have my rant. This item is made by the same company that produced my DIY swing set (bought at Toys R Us) and should have been included in the basic hardware kit! If you bought the same crummy, wobbly swing set I did, then you really need to buy these braces. But you don't have to like it.

These are not a bad option to make A frame based swing set. However, be warned that you should use a drill press on the top cross beam to insure that bolts line up with the opposite brace. I didn't have one and made a jig instead to help me drill square and level. Came out fine but it took me a lot longer that I planned. I don't think I would use these again.

This also was strong and nice looking. It is holding up well and should last for the life of the swing set.

When we bought a swing set kit (hardware but no wood), we ordered the EZ frame braces also (two sets, one for each end). They were easy to use, and we think they made the swing set that much more sturdy. Worth the money.

I bought the EZ brace along with the Kodiak kit from swing-n-slide. Due to space issues, I did not want the swing beam to be attached to the fort. The swing beam now stands on two A frames. To prevent back and forth movement of the swing beam on the A frames, I bought the EZ brace. You need one pair for each A frame.

The EZ brace come as a pair: one for right and one for left side. There is very minimal guidance in the accompanying instructions on the correct orientation of the EZ brace. The instructions eventually lead to 2 possible orientations. Unfortunately for me I choose the incorrect orientation. To determine the correct orientation I did try to magnify the pdf of the manual to see if that gives some indication. Appeared from it that my chosen orientation was correct. However, after drilling and trying to put the EZ brace on the opposite side, I realized that my choice was not the correct choice. What a disaster when you notice this after drilling through the beam!! I was still able to somehow install but now left with two difficult choices:
1. Should I keep my current installation, which is not right but probably serves the purpose?
2. Should I drill new set of holes and compromise the structural integrity of the beams? Few holes typically do not affect structural integrity but these new holes would be within an inch of the old holes!!

I called up customer service and spoke to Kathy, who was absolutely unhelpful!!!! I wish they have customer service agents who acknowledge the problems with their instructions and try to improve on them. Kathy could not understand the instructions herself and had to go and ask the engineering dept but still insisted that they have never had a problem with these instructions. Well if she could not understand then don't we have a problem here!!

BTW the "IN" on the EZ brace is just a code for swing n slide and does not mean that that face should be towards the inside.

This is my second set of braces from this company. Great product!! Pre-drilled, easy to install and extremely sturdy. NOTE: Does not come with hardware, you need to buy your own carriage bolts.
