The presenter has mastered the art of using 20 minutes to present what would take an avergae person a maximum of two minutes to tell. The concept is intriguing, but spotting the winning pattern is like sifting for a needle in a hay stack, unless you purchase additonal software to automate the search process. Even then, the odds are not always on your side. I reviewed some historical charts and found many instances where one could have made the wrong decision following this system.
To sum up, the entire strategy is based on watching for uptrending stocks that are experiencing three or more days of selling followed by one day of ostensible reversal before you swoop in and ride it back to the next local peak.
Try this strategy on paper first, espcially if you are retired with plenty of time to kill and some money to risk.

I was dissapointed to say the least with the book and DVD. This book is nothing more than just a section of The Master Trader. It gets to be fustrating when you read multiple books from authors who dont introduce any new techniques from their last book, but rather find a way to say the same things differently in order to try and turn a profit. Save your money and purchase the Master Trader which I thought was a good book despite some negative reviews. Also, the DVD included in this book is nothing more than Oliver Velez reciting what he has wrote in the book almost word for word. I watched the DVD and then read the short book with one trading technique, and was astonished that he memorized his entire book and offered nothing new in the seminar.

There are studies that say that between 92 and 98% of all people entering the trading industry quit before the year is over. Why? Because they are looking for some sort of "all knowing indicator(s), or oscillator(s), or a trading software package that will say, precisely, if a trade is good or bad. You must commit yourself to studying and mastering your ignorance to become intelligent in the industry of the stock market. Oliver Velez teaches you the principals and fundamentals of swing trading, the behaviors of the market, and the mindset one needs to be a successful trader.

This book, Swing Trading, cuts away the fluff and wasted verbiage and gets to the heart of the mater; that of being a successful trader in the stock market. This book provided clarity and understanding of what Swing Trading offers as a style of trading. It is an excellent home study book/CD course that would provide a firm footing on the subject matter of Swing Trading. This book should not be the end-all book but would be an excellent addition to one's library for continued growth and development as a self-directed trader.

No one is any better than Oliver Velez when it comes to teaching. He does a great job with his presentation. This DVD is super for the beginner but anyone would enjoy watching it. It is a simple approach to swing trading.

Easy reading and informative for the beginner. Take his pristine method with an eye towards suiting your favorite positions, much to learn but one must realize this applies to the types of stocks in his basket. In time you will learn the personality of your own basket of stocks, and will have to tweek his style for best results. But it works. Simple rules of thumb that are a must follow or you are doomed. Remain flexible and use as a guide and you will succeed. This book is very helpful in setting down some basics that a beginner needs for swing trading, keeping positions for a few days to a few weeks. The DVD follows the book closely and worth a look. Don't concern yourself with the quality that some find as poor, its content that counts, and its not poorly presented, this isn't Hollywood, its a learning tool. Worth buying.

3 stars sounds like a bad review, I probably would have given it maybe 3.75 if that were an option. Anyways, the book (short at about 80 pages) starts out with a simple but concise / effective overview of how he explains the cycle of the market, i.e. stocks go up, stall, go down, stall, go back up...

I have not actually watched the DVD yet, but the book itself really only has one solid trading idea / setup. That's why I gave the book just less than 4 stars: it isn't filled with fluff really, but is pretty short on substance overall, you are better off probably reading it in a couple hours at the store.

One of the better Trading books that I have read. The included DVD is really helpful.

If you have this book, you must also have Master Trader. The two go hand in hand. These two books are a must for your library.
