The bottom boom feature will perfectly align the Patented Pulley system of the Machine making it all but impossible for the pulleys to become misaligned and therefore increasing the life of the Bungee System. The new SwingAway Hitting System is built to take the constant use and demands of the Professional Athlete and it is now available to ALL PLAYERS who possess the drive and determination to "GET REAL GOOD, REAL FAST". SA Hitting Mat - replicates the inner portion of the Batter's Box, featuring an Official Size Home Plate. The mat is marked for both Right and Left handed Hitters and numbered baseballs showing the "Proper Contact Points" plus Directional Arrows to show where to Drive the Pitches that are Inside, Outside, or Down the Middle. The SwingAway combined with the Hitting Mat will train players of all ages and skill levels to hit the ball where it is pitched, pulling the inside pitch, going opposite field with an outside pitch and driving the middle pitch right back where it came from. This training will build the necessary muscle memory and confidence to take with you to your game and to the next at bat. The SA Hitting Mat will allow the hitter to "visualize" where to connect and drive the pitched ball The SwingAway will show you the direction and the trajectory of the hit ball plus the SA will train the hitter to hit hard powerful line drives to the proper field for any pitch location with a Short Powerful Compact Swing.

Just got it last weekend.
It totally flatten out my son's swing.
I was going to return it as one pulley broke after 1 day of use.
They sent us another one right away and then the Ball broke off.
(recall the ropes were defective _ from China) and now they are sending us
another ball with rope on it.

But even after 1 weekend of use.
My 12 year old went 5 for 5 with 2 over the fence HR's and my 9 year old did fine as well. I enjoyed the work out it gave me and even my wife started swinging the bat
also. We had to go to the local store just to buy a $20 bat to swing in the Backyard.
My son's use combat bats and we did not want to destroy them.

So we can now hit every day.
The main thing like hitting off the tee is that his device makes you focus totally on the ball meeting the bat or else the ball does not swing and bounce right.
You know right away if you hit the ball square.

Bottom line.
A little expensive.
I only bought this because it was on sale.
It will pay back in parent gradification.

It's great, you hit the ball, it pops right back into position to hit again. There are drills you can do to get the most out of the Swingaway, you can find them in the manual, check online, or find the really good Dave Hudgens 'Hitting For Excellence' videos. You can probably start getting use out of this with kids starting at about 7. Younger than that they will have a hard time swinging hard enough to move the ball. I bought this when my son was 13. He used it almost every day for a few months before and during baseball season and it helped his swing tremendously. At 14 he didn't use it nearly as much just because he wasn't as serious about baseball then, but hitting off a tee is important at every level and this really just optimizes a tee batting practice. Look for videos on YouTube and you can find major league hitters practicing on it. The design in itself helps a little better than a tee in producing a better swing (if you don't swing it right the bat might end up in the rope). And if a kid knows the proper technique to practice, he can do this by himself probably 5x or more faster than having to constantly replace the ball. Even if you had a coach to sit there and replace the balls, this way is faster, plus no ball-collecting when done.

You should know before buying this that there will be some upkeep expense. The ropes (or thick elastic strings?) aren't going to last forever. The company says they will last about 6 months. I just bought two replacement sets from their website for $30/each (they come with ball attached and all knots and ties already setup), and about $8 shipping. When we first got ours after about 2 months of heavy use (for just one person) the ball came shooting off. The rope had weakened and came apart.
