Customer Reviews

I contacted customer service of swingbyte.
M.G.
The idea behind the Swingbyte is excellent and I really tried to make it work; however, it simply is not durable enough to be reliable.
Mark S. Kuhlenschmidt
Wish this worked better but it's just not ready yet, needs more development time.

I bought the Swingbyte about 1 month ago and initially it worked perfectly for two days but then stopped sending data to either the iPad or iPhone app. The problem occurred during the second day at the range while taking full swings with a 7 iron. After two or three swings the device has to be re-positioned on the shaft and occasionally re-calibrated. Although, this scenario is inconvenient, it is not a deal breaker. What is a deal breaker is that the device stops working following multiple re-positionings. I am a 11 handicap golfer with 80+ mph iron and 90+ mph driver club head speeds - which are certainly not excessive. When I sought help from Swingbyte (the customer service was excellent) and after trying their suggested remedies, the device still failed to send swing data and finally stopped connecting to either the iPad or iPhone app altogether. Swingbyte sent me a new device which worked perfectly for two days but again stopped sending data on the second day of full swing use. I suspect they have a design flaw which manifests when you swing down on the ball (as you should) and take a divot following ball contact. When such a swing is made it almost always results in having to re-position the device on the shaft suggesting that continued vibration finally causes it to fail. Perhaps I just got two bad devices but this is problematic in its own right. The idea behind the Swingbyte is excellent and I really tried to make it work; however, it simply is not durable enough to be reliable. Perhaps Swingbyte will ultimately redesign or otherwise fix their product but until then beware of buying this swing aid.

I didn't buy this in Amazon, but I want to contribute my 2cents to collective knowledge in Amazon. It is a great product in many ways except the way of attaching the device to the club.
It provides important swing data such as swing speed, swing path, club face angle at impact and they seem fairly accurate and consistent. It transfers the data to your Android app(or iPhone) and the app is simply great. I personally benefit the swing arc image on my Android phone a lot. Easy to connect the device to my phone via Bluetooth and data transfer is fairly fast.
My first complaint is the way of attaching the device the club. Using a rubber band is so lame. Simply it doesn't hold the device firmly and the device slips down and twists. Even, the rubber band get eventually loose and the slip-down gets worse. The company claims that they provide the mount tab and the problem is solved. I contacted them and they sent them to me very quickly, but using a mount tab doesn't solve the problem because it makes the whole unit more bulky and more unstable and the device doesn't sit in firmly. I think their next development must consider this. If they do, this device will be the best on the market. My second complaint is a minor thing on the Android app. While I used the history of swings, the app crashed itself. After that, the list lost track of the numbers in sequence and it just shows zero on every swing saved.
I gave 3 stars, but it could be 5 starts easily if the company improved the product in those areas I pointed out. I hope my complaints will help the developers for improvement.

I bought the swingbyte to aid me in practicing putting indoors after the kids have gone to sleep. I followed all the setup instructions to the letter, but the swingbyte would never register a swing. For hours I tried everything imaginable, but to no avail. Finally I sent an email to the company, and they basically said "oh yeah, putting doesn't work anymore, we're working on it". The best they could give me is that it might work for android after several weeks, and that they would start trying to figure it out on iOS after that. Seriously?!? It seems like this is a pretty major bug and that they would try to get right on fixing it! So, now I have a really expensive, but completely worthless dongle (I have low ceilings, so the putter is the only club I can swing in the house).

So, I do not have any real data to work with, but I can tell that in general the app is also poorly put together. It is always complaining that the device is not paired, even though the paired indicator light is on (and the tablet or phone say that it is paired). I have to turn the device on and off a couple times until that error message goes away. Trying to adjust my clubs on their website leads to a dozen error messages along the lines of "unexpected error occurred, we have recorded this."

Bought this to replace a P3 Pro swing.

My favorite thing about this product is the size. It is unobtrusive and adds no apparent weight to the club.

The user interface on an iPad is great. I also use an Android tablet. The Android seems to have some issues but I am told by Swingbyte customer care that they have updates on the way.

This is a great way to visualize your swing without cameras, while also seeing club head speed and face angles, etc in quantitative numbers.

The fact that you can take this to the range and see actual ball flight is phenomenal. Try doing that with your golf simulator.

Looking forward to seeing my swing improve with this product.
