5.0 out of 5 stars Only Five Stars?, May 15, 2009

"A" is for... (Yorba Linda, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Swingin' on the Moon (Audio CD)
After living with this fine CD for a few days, I was lucky enough to hear Perry sing some of these songs in a small conference room, mid-day, with a lone (but remarkably played) acoustic guitar as his only accompaniment. And you know what...he sounds just as cool as he does on the CD. This fellow is the real deal - a natural singer with an ear for great songs. I'm a tough sell, but I'll bet that Perry has a great future ahead. If you believe in talent and not studio trickery, give this CD a try - you won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swingin' on the Moon has me over the moon!, May 5, 2009
This review is from: Swingin' on the Moon (Audio CD)
This CD has me already looking forward to the next one. There's something about Perry's voice that makes me want to hear him sing about every song I've ever heard because I suspect he could make any song new to me again as he does with so many classic selections on Swingin' on the Moon. Danos has a grit, and an edge to his voice that is signature, setting him apart from Buble and also a lot of the great crooners of the past. The production and arrangements - top shelf - create the perfect backdrop. The packaging says this is a class act and the music delivers. My favorite tracks - Swingin' on the Moon, Snap Your Fingers, Somewhere over the Rainbow and Young and Beautiful. Help Yourself to one of these - hurry!

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this album., May 28, 2009

I have been lucky to see a few Perry Danos performances! And let me tell you- they are so much fun! What I love about Perry's album is that you can hear it in his voice how much he loves to sing. And speaking of his voice, it is so very clear, warm, and controlled. Very smoky sounding...

I bought this album and my foot has not stopped tapping since- there are lots of fast fun songs on the albums. And if upbeat music is not what your looking for, he also has the slow heartfelt songs as well- The Long and Winding Road and Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

Swingin' on the Moon is a great album! I have it on repeat in my car and at home. My personal favorite songs are the title track, Swingin' on the Moon, and Help Yourself. One minute you'll be listening to the CD, and the next you're up on your feet dancing. Strange how it happens that way... :)

Just love it! I would recommend this album to anyone anyday!

I ran across this cd looking for a different one. I sampled the song, and had to order it. That was a week ago and I haven't stopped listening to it! Apparently this gifted singer is a Vegas performer and local Chicago guy. I am hoping that he gains some popularity soon. It would be a shame to pass on this one. He should be played on the radio and played often. You go boy!!! I love your sound!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful cd by Perry Danos..., August 16, 2010
This review is from: Swingin' on the Moon (Audio CD)
After having a few weeks to listen to my new Perry Danos cd...I can highly recommend this wonderful cd. Perry's vocals are just as smooth as smooth can be...his delivery is awesome, and the whole cd is just a great relaxer and mood setter for a very peaceful listening experience.

I have told lots of friends about Perry and his myspace page and suggest they take a listen...lots of great feedback!

Way to go Perry...hope to get to see you someday in a live performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars A voice that touched your heart and soul, March 15, 2010
This review is from: Swingin' on the Moon (Audio CD)
Wow - I've heard the name but never the voice until hearing this album "Swingin' On the Moon". As a lead trumpet player for artist Robert Guley - Phillis McGuire - Bob Hope and others I feel qualified to give an honest opinion. Perry has that mature sultry voice that touches your heart and soul. He takes you into the core of the song. Yet when its time to get down and dirty he has what it takes to get the hips swinging. You just can't go wrong with Perry's album and the band behind him hits on every cylinder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Danos Is Dynamite!!, February 11, 2010
This review is from: Swingin' on the Moon (Audio CD)
Wow!! Can this guy sing!! Perry Danos is not a name that I know; however, I am grateful that I found this CD. It is a name that I will recommend and look forward to more recordings in the future. The guy has a special talent--he has picked a number of great standards, as well as a number of other fine tunes. The arrangements are top notch. And the voice is smoky and special.

Swinging on the Moon, the title song, was not only written by Mel Torme, but Torme recorded it years ago. Danos does justice with a really terrific song. I like his version better than the original. Somewhere Over The Rainbow is, of course, the beautiful Harold Arlen song written for Judy Garland and immortalized by the legendary singer. Danos does a commendable version.

Because of You was an early hit for Tony Bennett, another legendary performer and one who is at the top of the list of great singers. Danos does a remarkable job on this song and almost makes it his own. You Send Me was a Sam Cooke hit. Danos does such a tasteful rendition of this song. That's All has been a standard for years and to hear Danos sing it is refreshing. He makes it sound new.

I am not sure what my favorite cut on this album is--but high on the list is Yesterday I Heard the Rain, which he does to perfection.

Everything about this CD spells classy. The singer, the songs and the arrangements, as well as top notch musicians.

This one is a winner!!!

The Perry Danos album is great for anyone who likes the standards sung in the way they should be sung. Great musical arrangements and strong crooner's style make this an excellent choice.
