This is, without any doubt, THE most famous Kaempfert album ever ! His AFRIKAAN BEAT became a world hit; so did A SWINGIN SAFARI. Everybody recognizes the first notes of both tunes. And rightfully so ! Not only were these tunes very original - they introduced a completely new musical style. Though recorded in the early sixties, the "safari" songs of Bert Kaempfert still sound quite OK today. Young people are discovering his work, now that nearly all of his great albums have been converted to CD. And this 'safari' album scores high on the sales hitparade everywhere ! A "must have" for EVERY EASY LISTENING FAN !!!

I grew up in South America in the 60's listening to "Swingin' Safari". It remained one of the most precious mementos from my childhood. It took me over 10 years to recover the album I grew up listening to, and it was in pretty bad shape. I can't believe it finally has been restored to a CD. My friends and my generation never heard of him. Now, with this CD, music lovers will be able to enjoy one of the best jazz collections from the last century.

having grown up in West Africa in the 60's and listening to Swingin Safari as a child, it has always had a magical feel for me! The music i think still has a cool sound and now ive found it on cd, my drive to work will never be the same!! barry
