Product Description

The Swinging Sticks Kinetic Energy Sculpture is a high end, museum quality moving display that is ideal for offices, lobbies, waiting rooms, and conference rooms. Enjoy the relaxing effects of the swinging and circling aluminum rods that are almost a bit hypnotic to watch. This is the same decorative sculpture seen in the movie Iron Man 2 on Pepper Potts' desk. Swinging Sticks make an attractive addition to any office.

This sculpture is really great in many points. It's easy to build (1 piece to embed in the other), there is indeed no sound from the swings and it's a well made object, not a cheap one.

However, you must not forget that it requires batteries (which are included in the pack). But since it needs energy (batteries) to work indefinitely, I'm not sure I can call this perpetual motion (although it does with them). Again in our real world, friction and air resistance always blow our ideal.

Otherwise, it's pretty good to look at something else than perpetual motion, something like chaos and its features, something like sensitive dependance on intial conditions, which is nice.

Think about your choice carefully, that little object is still a bit expensive! ;)

Bought for my husband, he loves having it on his desk at work. Says helps him to relax when his brain is on overload!

This is an amazing product. I really serves no purpose but it's a beautiful thing to watch. Perfection in its design and just plain cool! Totally silent and is still going of the first set of batteries after 2 weeks. I just love it. Nothing German design.

I purchased this item for my boyfriend's desk. It basically serves as a pointless piece of art / talking piece in his law office. It is silent and can be stopped and started by setting the sticks to a horizontal or vertical position. Note to buyer, his came assembled with batteries included in the packaging. This is a neat gift for any professional who needs a desk ornament, though there may be comparable options at a more reasonable price.

That being said, even though the sculpture does not make noise, he has found it to be somewhat distracting to some office visitors. Certain people found it difficult to concentrate without focusing on the swinging sticks - they can be hypnotizing. Also, if you purchase this for someone else - keep in mind upon placing this piece in a work environment, the gift attracts a lot of attention due to it's "what the hell is that factor." If you're buying for someone who seeks out work breaks that they don't initiate or nerds who like Iron Man 2, this is perfect!
