5.0 out of 5 stars Relaxation at its best!!
This hammock chair stand is fantastic! It was easy to assemble, doesn't take up much floor space, and seems sturdy so far. As a bonus it takes very little effort to make your chair sway or bounce, unlike a more conservative stand. 1.0 out of 5 stars Not for shorter people!!!
I am 5'6" and this stand does not work for me. If my hammock chair was set at a height I could get into, then when I sat in it I "bottomed out" and hit the stand where the 3 feet connect. You must be tall to get full use/swing of this stand. ... one of 2 screw holes did not line up so I couldn't get full support, and ... it was all scrapped up and after just 2 days...

I'm very, very pleased with it and spend more time than I should curled up in my hammock chair hanging from this stand - it's a procrastinator's dream!!!

By the way, I'm 5'3" and while I DO have to tippytoe to get in it's really not that much of an effort, the trick is to back up and hold the bottom down with your hands then sit - I wouldn't recommend this stand for anyone much over probably 230 lbs though since it IS flexible and it bends with weight.

5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible bargain!, June 12, 2004

When I ordered two of these (May '04) Amazon was having a sale on them, and also offering free shipping. That made the cost of these large steel stands barely more than I'd paid for the hammock chairs I intended to use with the stands, and less than one fifth what a pair of vastly larger and more ugly hammock stands would have cost from the only store I've found locally that sells such stands.

Though large, these stands need to be, to safely support us, and they do so very well. Surprisingly, they also look very good from a distance, and don't block the view from our home.

One hint: the bolts can be hard to tighten with the included Allen wrench. I found putting WD40 on the threads first helped a lot, as did using a higher quality Allen wrench. For a couple of bolts, even more help was needed, but for them a pair of Vise Grips did the trick. Alternatively, I could have easily gotten suitable replacement bolts at a nearby hardware store. Once tightened, the supplied bolts look very good, and seem likely to be very able to survive wet outdoor conditions without rusting.

I will add wooden pads to the base of the stand soon, to make sure the paint isn't scraped off the base by our concrete patio. There are handy bolt holes in the base to make such pads easy to add.

In our case, the delivery company (Eagle) was very helpful, friendly and courteous, arriving within an agreed 4 hour window, and even bringing the heavy cases into the home, though they were not required to do so.

All in all, an incredible bargain.

The thing is LARGE ! Box arrived a little banged up but everything inside was OK. Putting it together was a hassle as one of the legs did not line up and I needed some tools to open up the holes a bit. Would not fit inside the house as the top was reaching my ceiling, and the legs were not level. Brought it outside to complete the assembly and hung the chair. It stands too far off the ground! You have to step up on the legs to get into the chair. Maybe after we move it on to the lawn it will sit lower. Once in, it seems sturdy, and the slight bounce is nice.
The picture on the site is deceiving as it is much larger than it looks.

4.0 out of 5 stars The stand is OK, but it took a looooong time to get here., June 30, 2003

I'm short, but have no problems hitting the stand when I sit.

Amazon does not ship this product, but I wish they did. It took a month to ship, but the box was mangled when it arrived and the hardware was missing. My first e-mail to the company got me no-where. A follow-up two weeks later did the trick, however.

The stand was banged up a bit during shipping, but since I'm using it indoors, it's no big deal. The stand is huge, so I wouln't suggest it for anyone with limited space. It's also very heavy, which made carting it up to the 3rd floor quite an adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy!!!, July 1, 2004

I REALLY like this hammock chair stand. After reading the reviews and getting an irresistable price on this ($79.99), I took the plunge. The stand arrived right when Eagle Shipping said it would- although they're not likely to get there on the earliest predicted ship date. It was simple to put together. It is large. The leg span is probably 6 ft. in both directions. It has a pleasant bounce to it and swing if you want to do that. I don't run into the stand while swinging a gentle swing. It's very sturdy, too. It's a great buy and I love it!!

We received the box containing the chair stand in excellent condition. Upon inspection we found it well packed. Excellent instructions. Put together in fast time and we love it. It is very large. Weights about 70lbs. Need ample space for the stand. thanks for such a great deal.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does it need to be so large?!, October 14, 2003

If you order it make sure you have enough space. I couldn't find the size of this stand anywhere, and since it was the only hammock-chair stand for sale I gave it a try. It is so big it cannot fit in my balcony! I will have to wait till I get a garden. I also got problems for the delivery, they had me wait one entire day for nothing, hang up on me on the phone...When I finally received the package it was in bad shape, the content was OK but very very dirty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased, Easy to Assemble, June 10, 2004

I ordered two of these chair stands to put in the back yard. I ordered them on a Sunday, they shipped on Tuesday, delivered on Wed. One box was perfect, the other looked like the UPS truck ran over it, but the stand inside was fine. I found it very easy to assemble and once assembled I found it to be very sturdy. It has a slight bounce to it and I think I would pay attention to the weight limits.

I would not recommend this stand to someone with limited space and I think it would be too big for a balcony, but if you have the space in a back yard it is certainly a flexible way to put the hammock chair wherever you want it and move it if you have the need.

I am looking forward to many afternoons swaying away in my new hammock chair.

After reading some of the product reviews I was a little worried about this chair stand. But I am happy to write that the stand and the packaging was in perfect condition.
The instructions were very clear...Very happy.
